Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
May need to travel east tonight around 6 PM and am concerned about the weather. Moisture is supposed to come from the south, so.....
Any Salem, Eugene reports. Heck. any reports at all?
Thanks

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
The local TV stations are trying to keep us tuned in by saying it's going to be here soon. I can't tell if it's marketing or weather forecasting.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
Here's a Salem report. Temp is 40, and rain/hailing. The roads aren't slick yet, but my guess is it could get ugly once the sun goes down.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
I live 6 miles east of Sandy. It's 31 degrees with light snow and strong east winds. It looks like there's some ice pellet's mixed in now and then.
The temp dropped 4/10th's while I was typing the first paragraph!

Keizer, LIGHT snow mix with rain and some is freezing to the surface. Roads look OK. 36 degrees here. It might be a tad funky tonight, but I dont think anyone will be house bound as a result.

It started out here about 1100 hrs, as "popcorn" and the roads were a little slick. It's about 31 degrees right now and it's coming down as light rain.
Roads look okay now.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
Gotta love IFish, better current weather reports can not be had. We should be listed on the NWS web site for current conditions.
My report:
14:02 35 Deg F
Just started light snow mixed with light hail.
We will know in a few hours if this is a non event or skating rink.
A good link:
http://weather.kgw.com//auto/kgw/rad...&type=loop
Remember the birds in this weather, hard for them to get water and food.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
28 degrees, snowing sideways and the wind is just hammering.
Still praying the trees keep standing. One of my neighbors lost one this morning around 900am. Fortunately for all parties involved it fell down the rear property line and didn't hit any houses.
Not much in the way of freezing rain, yet.
Stay warm and be safe.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
Boy that hit fast. It went from sunny skies to this. I was out on the eastside of Portland when the first few pieces of ice started to hit my windshield. By the time I had made a mad dash back downtown there was about a half inch sticking. I can see the eastbound highway 26 traffic coming out of the tunnel and they are moving at about 20mph.
Tommorrow morning will most likely be a challenging commute.

The news just said this could be a mess until Thursday.
If freezing rain tonight or tomorrow PGE is predicting major power line outages so get your batteries and candles ready now.
Also check on those elderly neighbors as well.

sitting here in the dark, power has been out for an hour here in east vancouver. about 30mph winds, blowing snow and ice pellets.
My kids have been playing with the flashlights since halloween, so we only have 2 that still work. I'll be breaking out my tent heater pretty soon!

Traffic here in Sleazy SE sure bites. I must've seen 3 fender benders in about 6 blocks. I should've stayed home.
I don't know what's worse...the 2 wheel drive hyundai accents playing pinball all over the place, or the overconfindent guys with 4 wheel drive tailgating everyone.
Stay home if you can. Just because you have 4 wheel drive doesn't mean everyone else does.

It's up to 45 and raining in KF, it's been below 25 for 3 weeks. We have several inches of packed snow and ice on the roads so driving is not a good idea.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
Not all that bad right now, snow has stopped in Hillsboro.
Light/med wind, 31 Def F, no precipitation, light coating of snow/sleet on the ground. Thing we got less precipitation than other areas in the metro area.
It looks like the next band of moisture due early morning will be the bad part. Serious freezing rain, so please make good decisions regarding your travel.
Like EZLoader said, check on elderly neighbors and parents if you are lucky enough to still have them in your life.
I have my extra 12 volt deep cycle battery charged, the inverter ready, bought some extra pellets for the stove, checked the batteries in the raido/CD and the flashlights and have some food in the fridge. Janey & I are not going anywhere as the party of fishing friends was canceled.
Gee, we have no kids tonight, plans have changed, no where to go, and the upstairs is all cozy and warm, what are we going to do tonght.......

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
34.2 and freezing rain, here. Very icy out. Leaves are all coated and when you take them off, you can see all the veins in the leaves.
I love that! I take them in and put them in the freezer and serve them in punch bowls later in the year!
I hope folks don't mind a little systemic fertilizer in their drinks.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
Man we must have got real lucky down here. It got up to over 50 here in Medford and was mostly sunny. The only bad part was that the wind was howling, but atleast it was a warm wind.

Re: Any Freezing Rain showing up ?
Started snowing in Banks around 1:00. Started coming down pretty hard for a couple of hours. No freezing rain just dry snow.
Had enough to cover the ground by 3:00
And by 6:00 it had stopped but had enough to break the sleds out. Unfortunatly we don't have any hills. Probably between 1.5" & 2" by the time it stopped.
Tomorrow morning should be interesting. Looks like I'll be sticking to the backrouds for the commute into Hillsboro.
Enjoy, and be safe
