Default Phinding Phee Pheasants 4 Phriends.....

Pardon the phun.... but I'm looking for a place to take some east coast folks for some pheasant/upland experiences in Feburary. So it looks like a fee hunt experience - any recommendations in the Eugene to Salem area are appreciated.....

Maybe a little farther out of the way - but not much - you might want to check out Metro Pheasants in Canby. Send me PM if you want contact info.

If they are from the east coast they might appreciate some drastic scenery change. There are some other places near White River , Wapinita/Mallardith (keyword) Northwest Adventures comes to mind. Very pretty out there.

I am going down to Sweet Home on the 17th. This is my first time, so when I get back I can give a report.

For a full service hunt you can't beat
Treo. I got to go as a guest last month. That was is a 5 star service.

Four hunter 2 lab pups and an old point went down to DK Wildlife yesterday on our hunt. We put down 10 pheasants and 10 chukars. They say they release birds, not plant them. We put up all of the birds plus a few extra pheasants. We did not kill all of the birds, but that is why it is called hunting and not killing. DK has a nice place down near Holley. They raise their own birds and are good fliers. If you allow them, they will get up high and sail a long ways. We had birds do it all. Fly through the trees so we could not get a good shot. Most birds held tight. Some birds ran, and a couple flushed wild. I think that had something to do with a pup chasing a couple of cotton tales out front. They said they have about a 65% kill rate. We saw at least 13 extra pheasants on or around the property. When we drove in there were 5 birds standing along side the road. They release the birds after you arrive, so you have to wait, they said by next weekend they will have a couple of trap machines set-up to throw some clays while you wait. All of the chukars held tight and provide some extra shooting. Cost is typical for birds, but the drive from the lower valley is much better. It is about 80 miles from Woodburn. I hunted one of the two fields they have set-up. Cover was sparse due to the recent cold weather, but the birds still found plenty of cover to conceal themselves. Jo and George also offer guided hunts with poodle pointers if that is your wish.

I want to hear more about the 'poodle' pointers.....or is it Putel? (sp) Seems like G. Shorthairs and GWP's have that breed in their 'gene tree'...
Just curious....
