You can't forget about the Henry's Blue Boar, that stuff is real smooth and just as cheap for a good beer. Whenever I am out trying to get some good beer for a decent price, I would pick the Amber Light or the Blue Boar.

They did bring back Henry's Dark, which is my favorite, so maybe there is hope for the Amber Light.

A minimal amount is made through a contracting agreement with Full Sail. The majority comes from good old Irwindale Cailornia at the Miller Brewing facility. Can you mmmmmm good water!

I sold Henry's for a lot of years in this town in the past but the truth is that Miller ( or South African Brewing - Millers owner) don't view Henry's as a priority brand in thier family portfolio.. If the market share continues to slide like it has the last couple of years Henry's may be just end up brand of the past.

As for Rite Aid, week in and week out they have the best beer prices in town. Limited selection but they work off a slim margin acting as a leader to get you in the door.

Nothing wrong with inexspensive ( notice I didn't say cheap) beer

Did you work for Henry's or for a distributor? I may know you! I worked at the plant for the last few years of its existence up to shutting down. The Rainier plant in Seattle was our sister plant and made a lot of the Henry's brands also prior to the buy out...Heck, we made the Sam Adams' for the western US! The brewing industry is definitely interesting with the contract brews...
Henry's Amber was a great amber! I still think one of the best beers to ever come out of the plant was the Hazlenut Stout. Also had the Blackberry that was pretty decent. Got a little crazy there for awhile with some of the recipes.

Blackberry and Amber, Dark and Reserve, NW trail and Blue Boar... Henry has made the best beers in the world. It would be a shame for it to disapear. I'll do my part to keep it around. If they would just market it nationally the price would drop and the demand would go up.

The best bottled beer (in order)

Negro Modelo
Samuel Adams
Alasken Amber

But Henry's Amber and Dark are pretty darn hard to beat for the money.

You could ask for the recipe since you spoke with the brewmaster... Don't really know if they would give it to you, but you could try the home brewing option also. Find out which hops were used, what type of barley got used and start making up some batches. Might end up finding one you like better! (I don't have the patience to do this myself, just have friends who brew and I get to mooch off them!)

No great loss, amber lite is swill.

The big loss was when they quit making the regular amber a few years back. It was a pretty good beer.

I tried then to like the amber lite but couldn't make the adjustment.

Come on, Amber + Lite?!? The two just don't go together.

Definately the way to go, hard to duplicate beers though i have been brewing at home for about 2 years now, 5gallons of beer for around $25 per batch is a pretty good deal also. the only problem is i think it disappears faster since its soooo good. i have a batch of Cream stout that i am working on right now and just finished an IPA with hops that i grew last summer.
