Last week in alaska we had good luck with the vibrax and the flying C by Mepps along with some home made ones that I made.

It depends on the water you're fishing, but a couple weeks ago i had on a brass #3 blue fox that i had tarnished over a candle, adn on the 5th cast one hit it and broke my leader (i was set up for steelhead with 6 pound test) but i really liked how that spinner looked and would recommend trying it.

That sounds about right...
I tried spinners on the Sandy 2 days ago, I only hooked one on a #4 Blue, Blue fox.
Bobber and eggs hooked way more fish...

But I like #3 and #4 blue fox spinners... Different colors work different days and conditions.

Yep.

A #4 Blue Fox is hard to beat. You gotta have different colors though and just keep trying them until you find the one that is working that particular day.

when I used to fish coho in the rivers I would always fish a blue fox size 4 in red/gold , green /silver or solid chrome.

I found that it wasnt so much the color as the speed of the retrieve. they like them running a certain speed not too fast not too slow once you find that speed it seems like they are just flat on it.

now days I fish coho on the umpqua and I cast nothing but wiggle warts in a color I paint myself it works on the umpqua but doesnt seem to work any where else.

you cant beat a bluefox they seem to work everywhere.

Back in the day when we fished at Aberdeen in tide water the silvers would hit
the Blue Fox spinners when they started to sink not on the retrieve. I think they hit them on the flutter.

I hooked into a Coho on the Sandy the other day.

Was one of R&B Spinners from Jacks.

Was red in body and pretty small. Had bronze blade.
The sun was out so I hit the rapid area's a bit and tried to go small presentation.

Worked.

the best spinners i have used are from wild edge outfitters.

blue fox's will work they are just made with poor quality components and you can tell the difference when you fish them..

you should never have to jerk a spinner to get it spinning and it should be able to spin by just barely reeling it.. google them they are easy to find

I assume they will work in your area, since they have worked well for me. Pink #5 blue fox when trolling and 1/2 or 3/4 oz. pink rooster tail when casting.

I like the #4 Blue fox Vibrax, silver, with a silver blade. However, I will adjust colors and sizes depending on water conditions. One of my concerns about the Vibrax is how long it takes them to get down to the fish when using them in a swift current.

I have caught quite a few silvers with the #4 Vibrax with an orange body and silver blade, though.

Good luck!

In my mind nothing beats the Blue Fox / Vibrax for all around versitility. Get a bunch of different colors and weights, because depending on season, water quality, temperature, fishing techniquem, ext... different colors work better in different situations.

I don't pretend to be able to come look at the water, stick my finger in, smell it, and then pick the right color. I just rig up my rod so I can quickly switch between colors with a snap swivel and leader rig that lets me change them out in about 3 seconds.

Good luck and have fun.

Depends where you're at. Alaska, the rainbow blue fox has been good. Clear water, the colors already mentioned. Water with glacier silt in it like the Toutle and others, I've done well with the chartreuse/silver or fluorescent red/silver.

Your going to get mixed votes on this one..
I hate swivels cause I think it messes with the lures action and feeling...
and I have had swivels fail and loose fish...
I tie straight to the lure.
Just dont make your blade spin so fast and you wont get line twist.
At the end of your drift try to the the spinner to the surface and then just
bounce it off the top of the water on the retrieve.

Great to hear, Rob said he wished he was able to visit more the other day. This has been the year of #3 black oxide spinners it seems. but red is always a Coho favorite.

I second the wyld edge spinners, but I'm biased

I tie my swivel to the mainline then run a leader , about three feet or so , and attatch my spinner to that .

get several colors , rainbows and chartrueses work , but silver , brass and dark colors are must haves for different conditions when river fishing . Genuine silver is better than nickel also , especialy for winter steelhead .

I tie a small strong ring to the end of the mainline, then rig up my vibrax lure tied directly to a section of monofilament leader with a snap swivel on the other end.

I have a few setups like this ready to go, so when I want to change colors I can just click one off and click the other one in. I also do not lose any feel or movement on the lure because it is still tied straight to the line.

I have never had a snap swivel fail, but I do pay attention to use swivels with the proper strength for the line I am using and the fish I am going after.

Check the leader lines periodically to make sure that they are not knicked up or damaged.
