Default Tipping Jig's?

When tipping a jig with shrimp, is there a cretain way that works best or will just any old way do. And is it better to fish plain shrimp or to tip a jig.
Thanks in advance.

I usually just tip the jig with a tail. I will thread the tail on by puncturing the back of the shell and then rotating the hook and giong back through the tail again. Probably just confused the heck out of you but any way you can get it to stay on for you will work. I use jigs or shrimp or both, just have to try out what it is working that day.

Where are you fishing around here that you are tipping with shrimp.

the only place I need to tip the jig is on the columbia above or below mcnary dam from bank or boat.

I pull the head of the shrimp and run the hook through where you just tore off the head through the meat and out the top about two ribs back and then barely break the tail so the shrimp stays straight.

Good luck

Tipping your jigs with raw prawns works great over there. Use just enough of the prawn to give scent, like a piece the size of your fingernail. I assume that you are talking about the Grande Ronde or a similar river wh ere you are fishing moving water.

Yep, I'm W. Side and thats what I do, buy the 51-60 count raw prawns & cut em up. Put them in a zip-lock with a squrit of shrimp oil. You can freeze & re-freeze quite a few times.
