Default Ahhhhhh.....Cabelas catalogs are arriving!!

Just got the Spring 2003 in the mail, along with the Mid-Winter Sale catalog. Yes, I do any ordering online, and I check their website before I do anything....but there's just something about having the catalog!!

(Wow....look at the X-91 Fishfinder price!)

Nope, no killer blue pants

But, it is time to head back to Andy and Bax, since I've had to retire another pair!!! 6 years is a long time for a pair of pants. Maybe I should try washing them??

Cabelas will have a salmon and steelhead catalog out in march I believe, no bass stuff. Im not sure if they will send it to everyone or if you'll need to ask for it directly. You will be able to purchase HoldZit Tool Savers from it if you don't have a retail store near you that carries them.

TheRogue-

Good luck trying to get an X-91... they are sold out of the base model for the rest of the season, backordered on the plus, but you can still get the portable for $499...

I ordered the Plus on New Years day after getting one from Fisherman's for $388 without the speed sensor. I am waiting for the new one to show up so I can take back the other.

Only 6 years? Heck, you haven't even had to wash them yet! 'Course I can see how wearing them every day including to the company holiday party might become a bit of an issue. Maybe you need a second as a "dress pair".

I am thinking about heading down there, or maybe to Cabella's, to get some fine Orange and Black ones!

You know we are all sooo jealous.

PS - I didn't qualify for the hard bound version this year. Great discipline! Still trying to figure out what I am going to do with the Wood Duck calling video, considering I don't duck hunt anymore!

If you really want a deal call all the stores and ask for the bargain basements. They have a lot of stuff of every kind there at reduced prices. Each store is different.
Some are returned and repaired some are close outs and some are just specials.
When I was in one of there stores. There binccular prices wow  . They had several fishfinders and the other part of the store didn't even know they had them. They had boat seats at 75% off. Hunting gear, everthing.
Just a little info.

MAYBE YOU GUYS SHOULD BUY LOCAL!!!!!!!!!!!

If you buy from a catalog you support thier economy not Oregon's.You know Number 1 in unemployment in the nation. Yeah you may save A couple bucks but you are killing local business. Just like if you shop at at WALMART where AMERICA MAKES MIN WAGE AND NO BENEFITS. ALSO YOU ARE FORCED TO WORK OFF THE CLOCK. WALMART WAS JUST FOUND GUILTY OF THIS IN FEDERAL COURT.

OREGON NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!!!
Pay the extra couple of bucks and support your local business. Not the bush corparation mentality.

Fishbane, I love your outrage - thanks for the reminder about supporting locally owned businesses when possible.

rknh2o, fishing in the NW is all about little home-grown businesses. Very many of our boats are manufactured here too. There's great little shops all through the region - from Anglers Workshop in Woodland WA, to Lysters and Tillamook Bait on the coast, over to BC Angling Specialties in Oregon City, and I should probably stop 'cause there's way, way too many and folks will be offended by my omissions.

Keeping money in your community is a good thing, shopping locally helps.

My last order (last night), all off the Bargain Basement site on Cabelas...

4 different camo hunting shirts in 2 different sizes..... FMO, Joes, if they have them in my size... around $48. I spent: $22

1 fleece goretex camo hunting jacket....can't find any that fit me(3x, I like baggy) at FMO, Joes, Bi-mart, Sportsmans Warehouse, so I looked at Cabelas. The same jacket that I couldn't find in my size here in the metro area at $150+...I spent: $104.

Yes you've got an excellent point....I generally don't buy my "normal" gear online, but I'm not dumb enough to spend $50 extra on a jacket from a local store just so they can order me one, and get it 2 weeks after I could get the better buy from an online source.

The Bass Pro catalogs are better, especially the one for their saltwater stuff.

Fishbane is right. Which brings up a few questions...

Is Fisherman's locally owned?
What about GI Joes?
In the Portland area, are there any good little family owned shops that carry stuff other than just fly fishing?

Fishbane, maybe you should lighten up! Show me where I can buy a 4ft. carolina gaff in Albany Oregon. Should I be forced to buy my gamies and owners in 5 packs because all the local stores are sold out of bulk packs because they were too shortsighted to keep the in-demand items in stock? How about truck accessories? I just went in to the local GI Joes and inquired about a cargo mat for the back of the 'burban. They said they have to special order it. Have you ever had something special ordered from GI Joes? When they say "it will be here in two weeks", it really means they have no idea when it will get here. Been there, done that. Local businesses get my money because they have earned it. Not just because they are "local".
