Default Catching clams with salt?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlKRfvHHYT0&NR=1

Is this legal in the US? Would it even work on our species?

It's not legal in Oregon, but it does work.

Doesn't it qualify as taking them by hand? I can't see why it would be illegal. Nothing illegal about salt in the ocean is there?

From ODFW regulations. I believe number 2 is why. Sodium, in all it's forms, is a chemical.

UNLAWFUL TO:
  1. Waste fish, shellfish or marine invertebrates.
  2. Use chemicals to take fish, shellfish or marine invertebrates.
  3. Assist in the harvest of another personís catch except under a Disabled Clam Digger Permit or a Permanent Disabilities Permit.
  4. Sell any sport caught fish or shellfish, except the skeletal remains of nongame marine fish.

I don't think this would have worked for Razor clams anyways since they don't leave a hole but might have worked for horseneck clams?

What is Dihydrogen monoxide then? Without it, you aren't catching live fish.

We usually just drink beer while clamming and save the chemicals for Happy Hour . Don't try pepper cause when they sneeze they just go deeper

They leave holes, it's just where on the beach you look.
