These would work great on your coastal
rivers. We flatline the plugs at 40
pulls. No weight needed as they dive to
15 feet. By the time we add our special
smelly jelly, it gets them a little
deeper. I would not pull them without a
chunk of cured prawn on the front treble.
We break off the head and tail and put a
streamlined piece on the bottom tine. See
where the trebles lays naturally against
the lure body. There will be a single
tine, that is where you want the chunk of
shrimp. Make sure the plug tracks well
and you are off to the steelhead races.
We have been using two colors. The clear
with red squiggles on the sides and the
plug with the reddish orange bill. It has
chartreuse squiggles that we scratch off.
I heat my trebles and dip them in a
powdercoat paint that glows in the dark.
It does not weaken the hook and I think
it gives the fish something else to key
