Default Eisenglass Repair?

I have Eisenglass curtains and windsheild. the clear plastic part in the fronts are scratched up pretty bad so visibility is a problem. I recall somebody commenting that you can get the clear part replaced. I did a search and could not find anything. Seems like it should be a pretty straightforward project for a competent canvas shop.

Has anybody done this? Any recommendations for a shop in the Portland area? Any idea what it would cost just to do the front two for the windsheild?

I have used Carols Custom Canvas at 308 North Brigeton Rd in Portland. Call Gordon, at 503-289-3530. He has done good work, and has been reasonably priced.

They key is that they sew new eisenglassinover the top of your existing stuff. If they try to cut out the old stuff and then sew in new stuff, they will never get it right. Don't ask how I know

You could potentially use the old glass as a pattern to make sure you get the right shape and size . . .

I now have access to an industrial sewing machine. I'm going to do it myself next time.

Bob, I had an excellent experience with Bentley's Boat Tops down on SE McLoughlin. They did my canvas top with aluminum supports, front and side curtains for $1200 all up. I thought that was a steal, relative to what most boat stuff costs! I don't know what they would charge for replacing window panels but I can't imagine it would be more than a couple hundred.

Jerry's Upholstery if you're in east county. He does great work and is priced VERY competitively. He did top, sides, back and transom cover as well as 2 seats I built into the boat and I will have him do the cuddy benches this spring. PM me for a number if you want. He has done 3 or 4 of my friends boats too and they all look great.
