Default halibut blank

I have been wanting to build a rod for halibut and deep water lingcod fishing out of la push. want something around 7' that i can fish 3 lbs of lead in heavy tides at 550 ft deep. will be fishing 80 pound braid, if that matters. Any suggestions? just getting confused with weight ratings on rods, and dont want a 5' stand up tuna rod. Thanks for in advance for the help

Calstar or Seeker 6470H-7'. It's 30-80 pound line rated and will handle what you need. My preference is the "Super" Seeker. You may have better choices going to a 6 1/2 length though. Your call.

My go to halibut blanks are the Seeker CJBF series. Depending on your height, 60H, 65H or 70H - 40-60# fast tip. Great for light bites and plenty of anchor pulling backbone. These can also he had in the Super Seeker Line, which will be a tad faster.

The TS66MH is also a very good Halibut stick.

Seeker Hercules SHS 70H would also shine. The SHS 60H and 60XH, both got raving reviews last year in Alaska
