Default pflueger patriarch 9535 for steelhead

picked up one of these for my new lamiglas xmg 9 ft 6 8 to 12 spinning rod. i like shimano alot but really liked the feel of the patriarch. most all my reels are shimano thought about getting the new white stradic in 2500. but i got the patriarch and it only weighs like 7.4 oz's. any one fish one of these? almost went with the si 9 ft 6 but i all ready have a 9 ft 10 to 12 si. the reel is really smooth. i guess i will find out about the durability after a few steelhead. thanks

Isn't that a step up from the supreme XT? The XT is what I had and it died at just over 200 salmon/steelhead. Was a great reel while it lasted. Funny the gears in it were what gave first...

Scott,

The Patriarch is a great reel. Smooth with a good retrieval. The one I use is the Pflueger Asaro. You can not beat Plueger when it comes to spinning reels.

Pfluegers are top notch IMO, have a supreme and love mine. The patriarch should suit you and that rod just fine.
