Default ANy White River Unit Success??? Mid season update

For the first time in over 20 years I missed 1st season due to work. I will be hitting the white river unit for 2nd season. Just wondering if anyone had success or heard much about the first season including the water shed. Feel free to PM if you don't want to share with the world. Just wondering if there are any elk left for us willing to go after sloppy seconds. I hate to donate my dollars but guess I have to see whats out there so would appreciate any comments.

I heard of around 20 bulls killed in the Dufur/Friend area first season. I guess the elk are down low. Some trouble with trespassers I heard. Should be a good second season if the weather sets in. Hunt safely.

I missed first season over there for the first time in many years. My little brother hunted the weekend. He heard of eleven bulls killed on the Wamic side. One guy he knew got a four point.

I guess you are going to have to hire a guide. Sounds to me like a lot of people have second season tags and are going to hunt White River Unit. A lot of my friends are.

With 1-2 feet of snow predicted, be safe. I'll bet the huge bulls will stay higher. Rags will follow the cows down.

Talked with the gamie yesterday when he checked our tags. There was 1 spike calf killed in the watershed this year. We have not drawn blood yet but came pretty close this morning. They were pretty hunkered down while the storms continued all weekend. As it calmed and cleared briefly this morning they were on the move. For those that know the area High Praire it prettyy much a snowmachine deal from here on into the winter. We made it up there with 4 studded tires in low range but nearly had to hang chains to get turned around. The snow was over our knees so we headed for lower ground and started to get into them in the areas that had 8-12 inches. Hope to have an update later in the week.
