Soo Since January I have had this High pitched ringing in my ears on and off. I have never had any issues like this before. There was no exposure to loud noise that preceeded this. I woke up one morning with a crook in my neck from sleeping funny (hate those by the way). Took a few aspirin to help with the neck and since then I have had to deal with this irritating noise. I have done some research on the web and discovered that Aspirin can cause something like this but from what i have read it sounded like the Aspirin caused ringing is temporary. As i said it does not happen all the time or at least i do not notice it all the time. It seems to be the worst when i am near AM radio, My flat screen TV or certain computers but even in very quiet places i have noticed it as well. It is a very high frequency noise and of a constant tone and pitch.
Anyone else suffer from this? If so is there any hope for relief? or am i destined to just have to deal with it.
Had tinnitus for 5 or 6 years now. Started just before age 60. From what I've learned it's hear for the duration. Doesn't bother me much most of the time fortunately.

But all kidding aside I've had tinnitus for about 6 or 7 years. Mine stared gradually and would come and go and now its constant. Went to a info seminar at OHSU once. They do some medical trials once in a while as do others to try to find a cure or some treatment. Not much on that front. Also, its usually accompanied by some level of hearing loss unfortunately.
Hope yours goes away and stays away. Its annoying sometimes....
Not necessarily; but more than likely, "yes". I've had mine for about 10 years and, as most have stated, it rarely bothers me. I know for some it's pure torture. Mine is just a ring that tends to vary in volume.
If you are truly concerned, time to go see a specialist.
I've only had short duration of ringing on occasion, probably from pressure or something in my inner ear. I think most people on this forum will probably have it from shooting too much without ear protection, jobs that required them to be around a lot of noise or other exposure to loud noises, but apparently there can be a variety of causes. Some treatable, some not. I'd talk to you doctor about seeing an ear or hearing specialist to see if it can be treated before resigning myself to putting up with it.
You gotta eat a lot of aspirin for a long time to blame that as the cause.
I've had this constant hiss for years. Probably from guns, AA/FD's, working in a steel shop, a number of things. Louder when I'm tired, quieter when I'm rested.
Thanks for the replys. I only ate like 3 aspirin a day for a few days but then again i rarely eat any pills, even aspirin. I have been a little hesitant to see a doctor because it will take a referral from my primary MD first and then it is a royal pain in the ass to get an appointment with an ENT over here. Plus a lot of what i have learned so far indicates that most of what the doctors do is suggest ways to live with it or manage it. in other words it might be annoying but its not going to kill you so deal with it.. lol.
if you dont want to spend the money on a specialist who may or may not be able to help, and who may find something else very wrong that may need attention. thats your choice.
you may try a hypnotist to help you not hear it, if you know what i mean.
I've been on this same trolly for a decade or more. My understanding is that very little can be done about it. Mine is constant, but changes occasionally in pitch and loudness.
Mine is attributable to shotguns in my youth, rock concerts and F-4s in afterburner. I have "profound" hearing loss at 4000 decibels and that is the tone I hear...constantly (it is called "shot gunner's syndrome). The Doc said it is the mind replacing the sound it can't hear. Yeah, thanks.
I try to explain to my spouse that I can hear her but I have a hard time understanding what she is saying due to the fact that she is competing with the ringing. Louder doesn't help, enunciation does.
When I first experienced the ringing I had a hearing test done and was told I've lost some hearing and no cure for it. The following year I received a letter from the hospital reminding me it's been a year so I should get another hearing test...WHAT??? Pay them then to be told that they can't do anything for the hearing lost? Unbelievable.
I wish I could tell you this is a temporary handicap. Mine is not. Been living with it since I was 8 years old. I am now 63. Mine originated from high fever and having the mumps. Deafness in the left ear and nerve damage were the results. I find that is comes and goes and being preoccupied sometimes masks the ringing. Laying down often brings it to a crescendo. It can often be an interruption to the hearing I do have...........bummer. No joke. Protect the hearing you have and always the hearing of the young.
...then, your arms won't be long enough to read
...then, the light doesn't seem to be bright enough to read
...then, your teeth and gums
...can't seem to lose that Christmas poundage
...I gotta pee again
About 10 year now for me, 59 this year. Too many Rock concerts, guns, jack hammers, bull dozers, chain saws with no hearing protection..........
I just live with it, things could be lots worse.
