No real rules here (except ODFW). Just out to have a great time. We will fish until 2:00 and head for shore to meet each other and show our catches for some photos and crow. It is preferred that you try to fish up near the Fishery at Bonniville. Not required. Some will be fishing Kelly Point area too.
Point of this whole thing is to have fun. Fishing should be fun. Of course it is always better when you have bragging rights.
We will monitor channel 68 VHF or if you would like to post your cell # do it on this thread. My phone works up there so don't be afraid that yours won't.
If you want to participate and your team is not on this list ya better post it here. Let's go get 'em.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Man am I glad I am going steelheading this weekend! The rivers will be decidedly less molested with this bunch of heathens out of the way!
Looking over the rosters, other than the boat color and depending on how close they park to Bernie, I'd put my money down on on the taxi.
Hey, maybe I can start a paramutual on this! Ooops I guess it is a fishing thread!
I may be out there as "Team Elk and Black Choppers" but if so it will be so stealth you will not see us!
Good luck all. Sounds like fun.
PS - Pay not one bit of attention to the forecast for 70 MPH West winds on Saturday. What's a little chop?

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
I just dropped the "Big Red Beast" off at Stevens in Milwaukie for what appears to be a problem with the charging system and some other minor maintenance work. They said I should have her back by midweek but I know how boat repair shops can be. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to make the challenge. I will keep you posted.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Since it will be the 21st team, let's call the latest team "team blackjack"! Just got the call from my Sturgeon partner that the mean 460 (with cam) is back in the boat (21ft Whitewater Marine, bright and shiny) and will be ready to KICK BUTT on Saturday.
Team BlackJack
1- Sturgeon Tom (capt)
2 - Skrimmy (designated smack talker and anchor boy) 503-799-4952
3 - Husker The Hustler!
4 - FishnXTC
The last two are our ringers, welcome aboard guys!
Ya'll may not know the players, but you've no doubt see the boat at Bonny.....it's probably floated past most of you more than a few times fighting a big-one! OK, now we get to join the smack talk! But one small exception to the rest o ya.......we back ours up!

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Wow!!! what a line up!!! 48 hours left and still time to join in the fun.
I know there will be lurker i-fishers out there on Saturday that were too afraid of being awarded the baton. Thats fine too. If you see i-fishers out there stop by and say hi.
Just a note for safety. "If" the Gorge is too ugly to fish on Saturday then this event will move to Kelly Point area. Watch your weather and make a sound decision. I want everyone to be safe. No shame in that at all.
I will make a post Friday night as to where I will be fishing should the wind prohibit Gorge fishing. That way you can stop by and see our team reeling in keeper after keeper. Looking forward to putting the hurt on these fish Saturday.

Redbull!
We were supposed to be stealthing in!
Fine, Hogmaster and Team Net Manglers:
Lucky number 13 to fill in!
Hogmaster- Gary
Redbull - Joby
fishisabonus - Lynda
Kingfisher85 - Mike
Now that the elk got pasted while trying to get on the chopper during that secret rondevous, we are ready to rip some lips!
Sorry, Bernie, we won't be winning the baton this trip. We will be too busy reeling up KEEPERS!
PS - Why do I have this strange feeling that another chapter of "As The Impeller Turns" will be written soon? Must be because of all the material I see out there on the water!
PPS - I see dead sturgeon

Team HOGLETS, so sorry you didn't make yourselves known sooner, at least you would have had a chance at winning one contest this week, by that I mean the "who talks the best smack" contest. As for your success on the 7th, I guess you'll see soon enough why 13 is unlucky!  Team hoglets will come back to dock as team SKUNKLETS!

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Oh, the inhumanity of it all!
We don' need no smack talkin'!
The power of elk and black choppers wil guide Hogmaster and the net manglers to the promised hole.
We have no expectations other than to watch Bernie win the baton. Sure there isn't room for Newt in your ride?
Besides, what could be possibly said on a smack thread? There is more smoke and hot air in that thing than at the biscut fire!

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
The big dance is closing in folks. The smack is fly higher than a UFO. Still not to join in for a chance to win the BATON of skunk-er-dom.
Tomorrow is crunch time and boats will be prepared, baits readied, rods polished, knots tied and doughballs rolled.
Start your engines kids cause the big game is about to begin.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Skrimster,
The only reason we didn't out ourselves sooner was - we didn't need to!
Our strategy was to sideline it and see just how much game you've got. And from to looks of it, we could have waited another 36 hours.
BIO - Bring It On!
Over here on Team Hog we are cool kitties
Keep in mind I can only play chat smack until my wife gets home.
PS- Hog, I just got off the phone with the embroidery shop - they'll deliver the hats, shirts, coats, sock and shoes to The Fishery by 7am on Saturday. I passed on the undies. We are all so fit & trim they said they couldn't fit the slogan across the backside. Darnit.
With sum of my luv.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
C&E, I called the Fishery and told them to go ahead and spend all the extra, surprise, they did not know it was coming, Christmas cash you generated for them. You told me to tell them they owe you half, right?
The Fishery boat ramp, daylight Saturday.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
You may be right ******. Waiting for a wind report and forcast for Saturday. We will make the call Late tomorrow afternoon if a change to Kelly Point is needed. Safety is key.
BTW Rick, you must have all these graphics saved on some super computer somewhere. I (usually) enjoy them.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Just an update on my crew. Phunybonz (#25) will on my boat and he wants meat to take home. He's come to the right place.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Actually Bernie, it's supposed to be partly cloudy with mid 40's. A just be careful at first light deal probably.
My home water, but will leave it to the challenge armada. Have fun. Will be out somewhere lower.
From below Skamania Island all the way to the deadline should be good for you all. If there are any captains that have never anchored up there, be careful in the area directly in front of the Fishery ramp, particularly in the rip.
Real unforgiving get your anchor back area. If you already know, cool, if not, now you do.
A great zero "w" word and lot's of fish day to everyone.
Leave a few in the water up there.
Rick

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Waterdog, the only meat Phunybonz will take home is the baloney from your cooler.
That said, welcome team 23 Reaper Keeperk
Now as for the wind conditions :depressed: we may need to switch to Kelly Point. I will make the call this afternoon and post it. NOAA report is not promising.

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Whoops. A little to quick. NOAA just changed the forcast. Saturday east winds 5-15mph!!! much better. I will post again this afternoon.
******, ya just love to shove it back at me. That's okay though, I can take it. Appreciated your concern.
As far as the old man thing. I have this picture of you in my mind during the winter fishing months. Sitting on anchor with the top up, heater going, cigarette lit, hot coffee in hand, and a big quilt accross you lap to keep your legs warm. BTW, what do ya sweeten your coffee with?

Re: Sturgeon challenge Line-ups
Moving this thing to Kelly Point folks. 15-30 with 40mph gusts. Launch at Cathedral Park. You can try the Fishery but it is not looking good says NOAA and the National weather service.
Still should be a great day of fun and friendship. Hope some of you folks that are worried get some sleep tonight.

The Fishery just called me. BOY, are they mad. I gave them your shop number. Fred's is VERY excited though. With your half, they might be able to re-locate the fire hydrant.
