Unfortunately a lot of bow hunters prayer goes more like this,

Lord, let me not run out of arrows
For I shoot at everything that moves.
May the deer I hit in the hind and neck swiftly die,
Or may it not die until I find it next season
Please steer my wounded deer away from town.

Always makes me mad to see deer in town with multiple (Or any) arrows hanging from it or stuck into it.

Shoot straight

Yea right . You don't think us bow hunters find just as many if not more dead animals gone to waste or limping around wounded by rifle hunters . Please. I don't think anyone goes out and aims to wound anything . On the other hand I'd be all for some sort of proficiency test . Rifle and bow . If you can't put a three shot group in a six inch circle at say fifty yards you should have your lic. taken away . I've been lose sleep for a whole year off and on and the last week I can't sleep more then day two hours without dreaming of elk hunting . I'm so pumped up ready to go . Camp is secured . Elk already responding to locate calls from the normal hell holes . Few more days and its game on . Good luck to everyone rifle and bow . Make good choices I would love to read only good stories this year. Most of all be safe .

Easy there chief. I wasn't being biased against bow hunters. I realize that rifle hunters injure animals too, the thread is called bow hunters prayer however, and bow hunting is starting in a few days. I agree nobody goes out to injure animals but a lot of people take way too far shots with stick and string and other shots they should not. No matter how much practice you get and how tight of group you shoot it boils down to common sense and which shots you're willing to take and when you know not to shoot.

That is similar to the way I pray before setting out into the woods. Thanks, David

My little poem...

My bow is packed and I'm ready to go.
I might be back but you never know.
The bulls are bugling and the cow are a mewing.
My mind is spinning with elk I am viewing.
I see them in my sleep and I see them in the day.
My body is at work but my heart is set on opening day.

I can envision myself standing over an elk.
With emotions of joy, relief and sadness I felt.
My red arrow back is now placed back in ts quiver.
The thought of the pack out is making me shiver.

The hunt has ended and the work has begun.
Whoever said hard work was no fun?
With last load packed out to the truck
I thank the good lord for his blessing and luck.

Corny yes, but its all I can muster as I sit here watching elk nut videos. LOL
