I passed my last three month exam!!!!
![]() This morning I had an echocardiagram and a cat scan with and without contrast and both are just the same as they were earlier!!! The biggest chance for failure for my operation is the first year and as of Dec... (what was it?) 9, or 12th... I'll have to look it up-- it will be one year!!! So, I passed the biggest hurdle! It will surely grow in time, but for now, I'm good! That's all any of us can ask for! I do have permanent nerve damage due to having the circulation cut off of my legs, but that's nothing compared to the 'ol ticker! I'm happy and can live w/that quite well! Man, that was stressful, even though it shouldn't have been! I didn't sleep one wink last night in wait! I spent all morning playing poke and prod at OHSU, and playing the waiting game. Man! They made me wait two hours for the results! It was skeery!!! Anyhow, on my one year anniversary, you gotta bet I'm going to celebrate one way or another!!! Whhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ha! I'm alive and so are YOU! Jen

I found out something kind of interesting. (Still hear about bits of my surgery to this day!)
First of all, I found out that I was in shock and was really a brat when they told me I needed surgery. I told the surgeon that I WAS NOT having surgery and to get my old cardiologist for me, NOW! (LOL!) I guess he told me that I WAS indeed having surgery or I was leaving the premises! I don't remember any of that! He says it's normal when you are in shock to be combative, and I was! Also, during that time I was experiencing alot of pain, I guess. Don't recall that, either. (Thank God!) I always wondered why I had a 10 inch deformed indent and scar down my thigh, now. It's ugly! I knew they had to borrow a vein, but I didn't know why, or why it was such a bad looking job! Anyhow, I guess I dissected really violently at one point. (My aorta was ripping all the time more and more while they decided what to do.) Anyhow, at one point it sheered off an artery (artery? valve? I forget what he said, but it was part of us that we all need!) or something! I had a heart attack, while my aorta dissected. I actually died on the table, or came darn close, more than once. So, it was an emergency and they had to get a vein and pronto! No time to be pretty about it! Kind of a cool war wound, huh? Now that I know it saved my life, it's not nearly as offensive to me! Jen

On your one year anniversary remind us to wish you a happy birthday. If you had a dissected aorta and a heart attack while you were on the table you were given a new life.

On my anniversary, I'm going to read that entire thread that Crabbait started, when it happened. I've never read it from page one to the end all in one sitting, and I'm going to do that!
If I can ever find it!!!

You are right, Thumper. I chose the "pecan mudslide"
Frankly, it was disgusting. Way too sweet! But, for two bites, it was good for me!!!! Yes, pajamas at DQ. I did not go in, though!
