There's not a one of us who wouldn't have been plenty proud to put our tag on that big boy.
Congratulations, Isaac, that's the buck of a lifetime! Skein

Really nice buck.. Very lucky young man, now the rest of his life his expectations wii be high.
Looks like you varnished the antlers -- not possible of course. Wonder what he was polishing them on?

Great discipline on the part of your boy, and congrats to you for getting him out there. With a smile like that, you can bet he will never forget it and will likely go on to hunt as adult.

That is a fantastic blacktail. I can't wait to see how high it scores. Great job Issac. Don't count on getting another one quite like that anytime soon though. Man, what a buck.

Thanks all for your fantastic support. It has made Isaac (and his old man!) pretty darn proud.
He's at basketball practice now, but will post under my moniker soon to say his own thanks, and perhaps...add his own perspective to the story. He's a pretty quiet kid (unlike his Dad, but I'll twist on him a little and see if I can get him to post!25 more days, and I'll add Ike's score! Oh yeah-- MEL! Call me again for TUNA!!, or anything else with fins. It was actually a 300% humidity morning! Ike killed the Buck around 7:45 or so. It was just very dark in the timber. Even the clearcut shot (which we elected not to post due to overexposure) isn't very bright! You called it though, the moisture makes his rack look real shiny--and BEAUTIFUL!!!! I used to see shots like that and assume they were PM, but it's deceiving at best! Thanks again all!!!! 'Hawg [ 11-20-2003, 05:33 PM: Message edited by: WildHawg ]

That's a beautiful old buck, congratulations to Issac! AWESOME DUDE!
As far as scoring goes, it won't score real well because of deductions. BUT WHO CARES!!! That should be a world record in his young eyes and memory for years to come. sliverpicker [ 11-22-2003, 07:31 AM: Message edited by: sliverpicker ]

Thought I' let ya'all know Sliverpicker was right about the BC score. 132 or so green without deductions, and around 122 after. Official 60 days ends next week, and we'll get him measured for the Oregon Record Book.
Anyone know of any Juvenille record books he might get in, or publications which might post his picture? It would make him feel good, and light a fire under his brother and sisters rears for inspiration (Si and Lil's first hunts will be this year--they both are saying they'll beat their brothers buck...who knows?) Thanks for all the compliments for Ike. It means alot to him amd I both. You guys are a great bunch! Well, seein' as how my other two are going to get a better buck than their brother...guess I better get scouting!

That might be a good picture to submit to the OHA Nosler Photo Contest?
I believe the deadline is January 20th, 2004. First Prize .270, second prize Leupold 3-9, third Wind River binos, fourth and fifth Nosler bullets. Page 41 Nov/Dec 2003 issue. |
