Default Boat Down in Astoria (Headliner)

Yes, a boat down in Astoria--
Please read the story, by clicking here.

Out of respect for the family and to deter speculation on what could have been done differently, we are not going to discuss it until the real story is public.

We have closed many topics about it, today, trying to keep up with close friends and family requests. Please help us do
our job.

Thank you,
Jen

They have released the names of the persons involved on the news as Richard Cooper and Harold Cooper.
On Ifish, Coop, and the father was Freetofish.

We at ifish ask that you realize what this must be like for the family by showing a huge amount of respect.

Please, let's not go into the "shoulda woulda couldas" of the situation. There will be enough nightmares in the family without our speculation.

Perhaps we can learn by mistakes, but let's not hurt a family by doing so.

Sincerely sad,
Jen

My heart goes out to Coop. I can't imagine a worse disaster for him. My prayers go out for Freetofish and all his family and friends. As members of our Ifish family, I feel this tragedy deeply. I will have them in my thoughts as I launch my boat.

~Lost at sea these sailors they couldn't find their way
Asked The Lord to help them ~ teach them how to pray
They bowed their heads in silence looked out to the sea
Hoped the Lord would guide them as safely as could be
Waves just crashing endlessly rocking to and fro
Fear just filled their hearts they knew not where to go
They saw the face of God lighting up the waves
Showing them the passage and how they could be saved
They knew that they would make it to reach horizons bright
God led them to still waters and calmly filled their life
Hearts were filled with love and bursting with such pride
Found their way to heaven and God was on their side.~

I lost an Uncle to the sea when I was younger, my prayers are with the family.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of those involved.

No one leaves you
When you live in their heart and mind
And no one dies
They just move to the other side
When we're gone
Watch the world simply carry on
We live on laughing and in no pain
We'll stay and be happy
With those who have loved us today

I've drank many a beer with Coop in my early days. Fished with him a couple years ago. In fact learned about ifish through him.

I never met this father but was on his boat once. We are all praying for you and your family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Cooper family.

I grew up doing many of the same activities as Coop(we shared many Little League coaches and Cub Scout leaders), and remember Mr.Harold Cooper very well.I've lost touch with Coop since graduating high school, but it's funny how memories of 20+ years ago become so vivid when tragedy strikes someone you know. It seems like just yesterday we were teammates playing ball, with our parents crowding the fences to see the games and root us on.

We hope that Coop recovers quickly, and is able to begin the healing process of this tragic day very soon.

The Nordling Family

Thank you for all of your kind thoughts.

Twig #1 and Twig #2 and I just went out to the truck and I've added a strip of black electrical tape over my iFish sticker - it will stay there for a week. I didn't know either of them, but this board is like family and we all share the loss - gods speed!

Crossing the Bar
By Lord Alfred Tennyson

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

This definitely struck home with me. As an aspiring salty captain myself, I have an extreme respect for big blue and all her power. Simply a tragic event. My heart goes out to the family.
I thought about the accident all weekend while in the area and it made me very sad. :depressed:

Peace

My condolences and prayers go out to the Cooper family.

Back in 1971 my Father, Uncle(yes Dads brother), and an older genteman, family friend were lost on the bar. Tears still swell at the thought.

My heart reaches out to the Cooper family.

This was last year's post. Not sure how it got brought up.
Still, nice to offer prayers as one never gets over something like this.
