Bud-
Is there a cannery in Newport that will do the same thing? I've never seen or looked for one.
Tillamook is a long haul for me.

I'm scheduled to have a trip that Sunday, but if the fish are around, and the customers don't mind, I'd be happy to trailer up to G for the weekend.

I need to make a statement that if anyone should get hurt, ifish is in no way liable. Also, Sweet Louise said he'd put that on the waiver you must sign.

Thanks!

None of the canneries up here allow "trades" any more. Have you talked to a cannery about this?

I would also talk to the food bank about whether they will take unlabeled "home caught" tuna. They are pretty picky (and rightfully so) about the food they distribute. This would be like them taking wild game that was processed by a meat packer for a private party ('cept it's canned game).

We're sellin' that right now...last year ODFW gave me permission to do the donation deal...if the State will allow it...we should get the cannery on board...it's a one time deal that they can feel good about as well.

If not...I'll get the tuna carked and delivered to the local agencies myself...I have fish cleaners already volunteering to help if we have to go this way. We have the right resources to get it done but I hope we can stick with plan A...trade it out.

We need teams to participate...

You will get more "bang" for your marketing buck by putting one of the boats on the water...let the fisherman see it in action...

I'll hook you up with a special "highly visable" location to park that new boat to help sell them...we'll put Staff Jennings banners up...there will be more people at the coast than at a boat show...of course I have no idea what I'm talking about and just trying to get you out there with us!

Do you think you can change his mind?

I have trips booked for Sundays of both weekends. Sounds like my Sept. 4th group would be willing to go either out of Depoe or G, but they have priority and if they want to go out of Depoe on the 4th, then I won't be able to make the 3rd.

No worries bro!

Take care of business and what ever happens...happens.

If it turns out to be our group competing amongst each other...that will be fine too...we just want to help some folks in need and be able to talk a little smack to each other.

I want to see the "A-Team" El Shaddai, Marty & Less to bring their game up to Garibaldi...and show us why they're #1...the real reason is that they catch fish and we need the numbers!

C'mon people. Here's the chance to put your money where your mouth is. I may go out and get nada, but I'm willing to pull my boat out of water and tow it to Gari-folly just to try.

What's one day of your fishing time to do something REALLY worthy and respectable for others? Stand up and be counted among those that really want to make a difference.

All this on the board lately about what we should be doing for others....here it is. This is your chance to really put up or shut up.

Bay Ocean Sea Food has agreed to help us with the fish and the Oregon Food Bank is excited to receive our donations.

To make things legal and to avoid dealing with the state...they're going to can the fish we catch...they're giving us a great deal on the canning and donating a portion of the cost. A portion of our entry fees and the private fund raising I've done already will cover these costs.

Thank you Bay Ocean Sea Food!

FYI...the cannery said we don't need to brain spike the tuna...not trying to create a debate here...just passing the info along.

We need you! Put a team together, have fun and help the cause!

Thanks-

6 am to 7 pm is now the window.

Now if I could just work out a "mother ship" for refueling...

That works out well Bud. I am hoping to stop at the hill before heading back in to pick up some flatties for those aboard that haven't filled their tags. This would at least give some fish for those aboard to take home.

Like we taked about last week--- We just need the SL to tow a Ed Wing shell behind her full of fuel, then we're set.

So why hasn't the list of boats participating grown longer? No Ed Wing boats part of the tourney yet? How about all those Stripers I see out there fishing? By my count, there's only 3 boats from I-Fish saying they'll join in. Sweet Louise who's put time and effort to get this together, Crazyfish, and myself. Everybody else is the daily tuna crowd from Garibaldi.

Mr. Fisherman...the BBQ is going to be held close to the docks...I'm working on two locations but they are very close together...it will be burgers and cold salads...we need to keep this simple.

Mike I'm sure many of the southern tuna hunters have plans or don't want to drive up to Garibaldi...I understand this but we still need them!

Could it be that they're scared....

I know we need them! Might be that the Garibaldi regulars are just too stiff of competition......

I mean, I know I'm not! I'll probably come in low, and the SL will come in slow! But hey, it's for a good cause.

Now, I happen to know of more than a few tuna hunters that trailer their boats down from the PDX area, or even farther, some clear from Washington........Heck, Garibaldi is even closer than Depoe.

We'll see, we'll see. Who's up for the challenge?

Sweet Louise, if it wasnt during vacation for my bow elk season I would be there to show you boys how to catch tuna (again )

Just for the chance to smack talk all year about being the third best tuna fisherman on ifish (behind Wak'ms team and El Shaddais team) is worth the price of admission.

There is always the chance we tag out on big bulls early and make it to the tourney but dont hold your breathe

I am surprised there are not more people participating in this event.

You werent trying to hustle me last weekend with the gimpy prop and coming up empty in the fish box were you, just so you could smack us around on this tourney

If I get a crew together the uboat will be there. I have two maybe three open seats.I have never tuna fished before but have a couple hand lines made up.

Would like to be wing man for someone who could show me the ropes .Would stop off at hali hill on way back in to have somthing for the crew.

The new uboat is a 2509 trophy very tuna worthy
Corrirod knows the boat.
Thanks Pete

Right on guys! Sweet Louise is out of here for the day, so I doubt we'll see posts from him.

But I sure thank you guys for joining!

Thanks uboatcr for taking the plunge!
Thanks kenai for being the sole Ed Wing to represent --(at this point)

Though I'd love to load up my fish count to take top spot, this is for charity, so the more boats that do well the better. I'm happy to have anyone wing with me.... not that it will increase your fish catching chances! We'll all be on the radio trying to help each other out during the day.

We'll all pray for a nice ocean, but if it doesn't happen, and we cant go, you can still feel good that you were in!

Thanks Mike and thanks to the most recent additions...we're up to 13 teams!

I am working on a sponsor for the spotter plane so we can have him do recon for us on Friday and perhaps again on Saturday.

The release document is done...along with the entry form. We do have to have everyone sign the waiver that wants to participate...I'm going to post these on my web site shortly so you can download and bring them with you next week.

Is it going to be a problem for anyone to have at least one team member in Garibaldi by 7 pm on Friday the 2nd? I need the forms and cash on Friday night...could happen Saturday morning before the start but it would be great to get that part over with on Friday. Let me know...

I realize that the numbers Tuna Time has put up this year are intimidating to the south coast guys…he’s good…but you guys are seasoned veterans…if your boat is on a trailer…take Hwy 6 for a change.

Just a little smack talk to try and rally the troops!

Bud,

I'm still a maybe. :depressed:

Unfortunately one of the other salesmen already took the day off and if the boss let's me go then we'll be short-handed on a holiday weekend.

If nothing else I'll throw in a $100 gift certificate as a prize.

Sorry Bud, but I'll be there if there is any possible chance!

WORK SUCKS!!! It's getting in the way of my fishing. :depressed:

Not sure the odds will help get others to sign up.

I know I wouldnt like to see myself listed as 1000:1 odds

BOE-

The odds are to show you who is likely to win...and you would certainly be under 10:1 after last weekends effort.

Stick those bulls and then we can figure your odds out!

I already mentioned I think he is hustling us, with the big set up last weekend.

Sort of like throwing the first pool game, then wanting to play for money on the second.

If I dont make it back from my hunting trip, you guys have fun in this derby.

BOE...I am about to go pay the bill for last week...the only one getting hustled is me!

Will have a live tuna report later this afternoon when a boat returns from way out...nice ocean from the dock reports.

They're about to put the boat back in the sling...this part makes me nervous...

The fish are off Garibaldi in good numbers...very encouraging yesterday and if the weather cooperates we should be able to find them.

They were closer in than expected...we'll share all the info on Friday night at the check in.

Get your fishtraps!!

Do you have a final plan as to the events that are happening
friday night, I am having a hard time finding a place to keep my boat.
The marina says they have no slips available for a boat my size.
I will be down Friday afternoon and have not found any place
to park.

Yes, were meeting at the Tillamoook Bay Boat House between 5 and 7 pm to deal with check-in and passing along the local info.

How big is your boat?

Pete, you can just park it in the marina parking lot. Or if there is space at the transient dock you can stay there for $10/night.
