THIS CONTEST IS NOW OPEN FOR POSTING.
---------------------------------- Finally! We have a "Fishing with Kids" photo contest! The First Place winner will receive an Okuma Reel. It is an Okuma VS-30! Thanks go to our ifish sponsor, OKUMA! Here are the rules! NOTICE NEW IFISHERS: If you have never uploaded a picture to your own gallery, please read the "How to Post a Picture" tutorial by Pete. It is very helpful! If you still have trouble, please post a request for help on the Life in General Forum, where many people will be glad to assist you! The photos may be computer enhanced. They must be taken by the person entering the contest or the person entering the contest must be included in the picture. They should be posted on this thread only. Any photos posted on new threads will not be counted, as I can't be responsible to go hunting. The children posted must be 16 years of age, or younger. The pictures must be fishing related. They may be recent pictures, or family treasures. The point of this contest is to encourage folks to take a kid fishing. The photos must be under 600 pixels wide. There will be two prizes, First Place and Second Place. The Second place prize is an Okuma Rod or reel of my choosing. The mods and the admins will choose 10 finalists. Those winning 10 will be listed on the board for all members to vote on for a period of one week. The criteria we will be judging on impact and how much "fun and family" feelings the picture brings to the viewer. The pictures may be of kids who may be of either your children, or other children. IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for your own posts. If parents of "other" children do not want their picture posted, it is up to you to delete it, and/or ask for written consent. So... if you have some great "fishing with kids" pictures, be creative and start snapping some photos! You may start posting entries here. You can enter as many times as you like, but only one photo will be considered to win!!! (As in you can't win both 1st and second place.) The contest will be closed for judging on August 10th, 2005. (Sometime whenever I wake up and get to it!) ------------------- Jen

This will be a fun contest - good luck to everyone. Jennie, you can tell the Okuma folks I just picked up two Avenger AV-15's for my ultra lights because of their sponsorship - love the reels as well.
This is Twig #1 on her first guided fishing trip learning to fly fish from a drift boat on the McKenzie - what a day we had - sun, fish, fun. Can't really see it well, but yes that is an iFish hat

Here are a few of my son. Some of you that have read my prior posts know the legend of "GUPPY BOY" my now 5'10" 200 lb 14 year old son ( It's getting tougher to whoop him :grin
These picture are from three or four years ago.Since his first days in the boat or on the bank he has always had the fish catching magic. These three pictures are special to me for different reasons. I hope you enjoy ! #1 - First day ever on Odell Lake and his first bite is this 20lb laker. #2 - A Willamette springer on a day where it was cold, windy and virtually no chance of catching a fish and he wouldn't let me put the boat on the trailer. His persistance paid off. The grin says it all  #3 - This is his first winter steelhead. It was caught on the Sandy on the second cast that he ever made for winter fish. He's spoiled for life. He figures it should always be that easy. Heck, I fished for two year before I got my first winter. Proud Papa Pearl Love ya bud !!!

![]() My 9 year old cousin w/ a nice rainbow caught on the Fall River w/ a fly. ![]() I don't know how he could get so exited over such a small fish, but it was his first fish he has ever caught on a fly rod. ![]() A little bit bigger fish he caught on the next cast on the WAY upper Deschutes. ![]() An intense action shot. *Note: All fish were released unharmed!

Hey Roy, Have you got any good pointers from your daughter yet. It seems that she catches more salmon than you do. sorry I could'nt resist.
I think all of the kids are winners and all of the pictures are great. Here is a picture of my grandson shad fishing. He is only 4 years old (3rd shad fishing trip) he doesn't quite have the patience yet to sit for a long period of time salmon or steelhead fishing. Pretty soon I hope.

My daughter Emilee has been fishing with me and her grandfather since she was about 2. She has caught about every spiny ray species that is in the Northwest. I was traveling in Florida last year and have always wanted to shop at the IGFA in Dania Beach, so I got to go. I bought a bogagrip next door at the BassPro Shop and got it certified.
Long story short, Emilee holds the IGFA Junior World Record for White Sturgeon. |

OK, I'll bite.
Here's a couple shots of little Miss Wood Shampoo. ![]() Oh man, does this ever hurt. :depressed: :depressed: Just tears me up inside that I haven't seen her in over a month. Cherish each God-given moment that you are able to share your passion with your little ones, folks. And don't forget that camera! Those memories are all you may have someday, and they only come ONCE in a lifetime... guaranteed you'll forever regret not capturing the moment on film or JPG. ![]() "Let them be little, 'cause they're only that way for a while, Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day, Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle, let 'em sleep in the middle, Oh, but let them be little....." Fishing is more fun with a friend. It was a cool, rainy day and the fish weren't biting, but we couldn't drag these two away. I finally offered them a bribe of hot cocoa and my son replied, "YEAH!...lets go have some hot cocoa... right after we catch a trout."

Here's our daughter catching her first trout when she was just 2. She casted the line by herself, set the hook, yelled "fish on!" and reeled it in. My husband hadn't caught any fish and asked if he could be in the picture, too.

Well, here's my entry. It's a little unconventional, but hopefully it captures the spirit of the contest.
Here's my beautiful wife with a really nice bass she caught all on her own at the Delta Ponds in Eugene. The lure was a Pop-R: ![]() But, as you can probably see, Rhonda is pregnant with our twin girls: Baby A: Baby B: Hopefully this was the first of what will be many, many more days on the water with my three beautiful girls! Jen,
What a great contest. I didn’t know how this would work but now I am a convert. The pictures say a lot about the parents and grand parents of the kids in these pictures. I am blessed by the images on this thread. Hard to pick a winner but the good part is the adults around these children are already winners. The children are indeed blessed by loving and supportive role models and it is easy to see the love of our sport being passed down to future generations. Thanks Jen for a great contest. ![]() papa

My son was very proud of this fish. He peeled a caddis larvae, put it on his hook and drifted it through a riffly section of a small central Oregon creek.
