The lower Clackamas River rose 3 & a 1/2 feet last night. Is off color but still fishable. The old timers say the Clack fishes best when the water in on the drop. With the rain lined out there should be mid to end of the week for the best.

Enough is enough since sun up the Clackamas is up another foot or more to 4.5 higher than when I looked at it 7:30pm last night. Color is off bad now. I'm going to through my anquor by the Island accross from Clackiemnt Park. Its a hardware day for sure.

Almost sounds like they've opened the spillway up above. There's going to be a good deal more runoff from snow melt today with the snow level so high. The snow level is suppose to drop down to 3K ft. overnight though. When the river starts to drop do you guys think there will still be a chance for some late run steelhead, or are you thinking early salmon?

I'd expect Dog Creek(McIver Park) or anywhere above Feldheimer's to be the best shot for intercepting one or two after the rains subside. I know I'll be taking some eggs along once it becomes fishable again ![]() An early springer may surprise someone from Riverside down, better chance for that now that it's rained a bit, but that's still a slim chance. Better odds in about two weeks. -->Duckworth Dave- Do you have a white Duckworth with a hard top? Chris

The river is a movin' up here around Feldheimers thats for sure. I think I'll leave the boat tied up and wait for the drop...but it still looks good enough to hit from the bank along the seams closer to shore. It still has a greenish/ brown look, not blown out as of 8:30 am anyway.

The current river level forcast calls for the Clack to rise 2 more ft by 05:00 AM tomorrow (at Oregon City), and then begin to drop slowly. Given the height its already reached it sounds like it will be out of commission until Wednesday, or Thursday. Can't wait!!

I fished Barton to Carver on the Clack Saturday for steel. Three boats leap-frogged down the river and none of us touched a fish. I guess between the rising water and low pressure it really turned off the fishing. I can't wait until the river starts to drop.

For anyone interested, went by the Carver boat ramp about 1:00 today and it's less than 1 foot below spilling into the parking lot. One guy fishing a bobber at the Clear Ck. influence. The water color is dark but not "totally" muddy. Might be worth plunking some eggs on a spin-n-glow on the seam

I went by Clackamette park boat ramp around 5pm yesterday. Unreal!! The rapids behind the ramp were big. Lots of logs and debris floating down. Sounds like its dropping pretty fast. The temps are suppose to nosedive tonight so that should slow the runoff from up high. When will it be fishable?? I'm guessing Wednesday afternoon....or is that too soon?

The Clack is lowering nicely. Its droped 4' and has 1 more to go for perfect spring fishing level. Color is good and there's been a few boats in the lower end today but fishing will be best in the morning if it don't rize again. Hell if it drops another 6" or so I'll put the boat in the backyard. I got tired of trailering it to the ramp everyday. How do you guys do it? Anyways see ya out there.
