I have an opportunity to buy a Glock mdl 27 that is in real good shape, with a couple clips, a box of shells and a case for $350. Is this a good deal? I don't know much about autos, but I hear good things about Glock.
Thanks in advance, the amount of knowledge / experise on this board never ceases to amaze me!! ![]() Thanks again, Dennis

That's a great deal. I haven't priced the subcompacts, but I'm guessing that's $100-$150 less than retail. Maybe more if you consider the clips, shells and case.
Glocks are good guns ... my only concern (personal taste, not a product malady) is that the model 27 is a sub-compact pistol. In .40 caliber, I want my entire hand cushioning the recoil for accuracy and comfort. Plus, I have pretty big hands ... The other note would be a limited magazine capacity versus, say a Glock 22 - the same pistol in a standard frame. Model 27 is a great option for a carrying piece if you're interested in concealed carry. If you're okay with a small frame and limited mag capacity, I'd say go for it! D$ [Edit] I found a couple model 27s online right around $500. Might check the local sporting goods stores (Sportsmans Warehouse? in Salem) to see if the price is any better ... not to buy, just to compare with what's being offered to you). Also, you can get grip extensions for Glock pistols by Pearce and other companies. Sorry ... I don't know if this affects performance, handling, etc. Here' the Pearce model (which actually gives you one additional round vs. the factory 9-round mag): Pearce Grips for Glock Pistols |

THANKS!!!
![]() He says it has the grip extention.... I was shopping for a hunting revolver.....BUT..... It sounds like I could shoot it for a while then use it to trade for a hunting gun. BTW it's .40 cal. Again thanks for the input.

No problem. Yep, I'd probably go for that too. Let us know how it handles if you go for it.

Good deal on price. Don't shoot lead bullets through it and be careful about reloads. Stick with factory loads and you will be fine.
Portland Police and other departments are moving away from Glocks because of KB's. Here is a link explaining more about the problem.

I was just at a gun shop that is going out of business and is selling his guns at cost.
He had the 27 there for $430. Which he says is his cost. No markup. So I would say if you are getting a great deal. As long as you trust the previous owner took good care of the gun. My friend has a 27 and he also uses the grip/ magazine extension on it. |

I too have a glock, but mine is a model 22 which is the larger model that shoots 40 cal and like the gun. I like the light weight and the 40 cal is the perfect round for a pistol, IMO. I think I paid $425 for it new before the ban on the large capacity mags.

That is a good price. If you want a 27 you should snap it up. However if you are looking for a good concealed carry I don't know if you want the 27, as it is still a pretty big/heavy gun for true concealed carry. It has a shorter barrel/grip/slide, but the frame and slide width are the same as the full size and it is pretty heavy when loaded. It is a great gun and if you have the grip extension you shouldn't have any problems with grip. If you want it to fill your hand more get a hogue slide on overgrip and trim it down to fit. It will make it wider and fill your hand more, plus it gives a good tacky grip feel. And again, if it is in good shape 350 is a great price. As long as you are shooting factory new ammo and not reloading I wouldn't worry about a KB at all. I have put thousands of rounds through my model 22 and have never had the slightest problem (but I clean it religiously!) and I haven't heard of anyone else that I know having any issues with KB's, and they also shoot thousands of rounds. But everyone I know uses factory new ammo (speer) and no reloads or factory reloads and keeps their gun clean.

Glocks are not the only pistols that have unsupported chambers and KB's can and do occur in many firearms. However, if I still owned a Glock, I would probably change out the barrel to one with a supported chamber. If for no other reason than Murphy is alive and well. Glocks are decent pistols but they are also not the "uber" pistol that many make them out to be. They still need to be maintained and it is important that their manual of arms is closely followed. In this case, Glock explicitly states to use only high quality factory ammo. No reloads and no lead. Of course you could still have an over pressure factory round and that is why I would swap out the barrel. For a more concealable alternative, take a look at the Khar MK40.

Nemo is right. Check out the KAHR. A few more bucks, but a lot smaller and thinner. Easy to carry with little bulk.
I have a Glock mod # 31 chamgered in .357sig. Its a great gun. I shoot it a lot and it has never failed me. Keep it clean and maintain it and you wont have a problem. That price is not bad. A friend has a KAHR compat .40 cal and I like it!! They are around $400.00 and some change. Light and compact.

Good gun and at a good price. I carry my 27 concealed and also havent had any problems in the years I have shot it. As with any gun keep it clean and well maintained and you shouldnt have problems.
