Default Owner Boa Mooching Rigs

Heard about these last year. Mooching rig with a slider that that locks up when pressure is applied seems like a good idea. Looked on Owner website - $4.50 each. Yikes! Anyone seen one of these? Anyone know about the Owner "Secret Knot"?

You would have to buy one and take it apart slowly and see how it is tied. Maybe I will do that in the near future. Watch they will have a patent on the knot.

I have a couple samples of the Boa rig from Owner. Pretty cool, I will be using them for fishing whole herring this spring. The slider knot works kind of like Chinese handcuffs. It will greatly increase hookups because the "slidable" top hook acts like a fixed hook when baited, which is the main reason I did not like standard slider rigs in the past(sliding hooks dont hook well). The new Boa rig fixes that problem. The trick is in the slider knot, its top secret, does not look like something I could figure out. I am not sure of the price, I thought they were going to be a little less expensive. Look for them at Fishermans and other tackle stores, they are supposed to be available anytime now.

i used them for prawns and they work good! i like the slider for the fact that i can adjust the top hook for whatever sized prawn i use. chris did you guys bang any after you went by us thursday? we only boated the 1 that we just landed when you were floating by! fairly slow. that 1 was a dandy though, 17lbs! hotslam

Hotslam...I do have a red diamond plate Willie, but I did not fish on thursday. Either someone else has one or someone borrowed my boat that day. Sounds like a nice fish though.

Chris, I got a sample of these rigs as well. I found it kind of hard to pull when sliding. I have not tried to slide it when the slider knot is wet (probally easier). What's the deal with the flaten eye on the bottom hook? Never seen that before. It looks like they put it into a vise and smashed it or something. I have not as well figuied out how they tied that slider knot. Like mentioned above might have to take it apart and see how they tied it..............Bobber Down

Bobberdown...the bottom hook is a European style hook, not sure why they used it in this case. I would bet they are a little cheeper.

I believe that the $4.50 gets you a 3-pack.
