STILL, it makes me happy!
We were fishing on the Wilson, and the bite was really off! None rolling, none moving... until... One fluke fish decided that my eggs and shrimp looked too good to pass up! Man, he took the bobber really weird! I thought it was a mudcat, and I almost jerked it away. Decided to let it play. Bobber down, up, down, up... sideways, back up, down.... I reeled down to it, and set the hook! It set back! WHOOO HOOO!! For 15 pounds, he sure was scrappy and bright! It took me a while to bring him in. He kept wanting to be under the boat! I kept having to turn my rod upside down so it wouldn't break against the boat! This side of the boat, then over there! I knew he wasn't that big, but man he wanted to fight with me! It amazes me the tenacity of these fish, and how hard they fight to get away! FUN! FUN! FUN! Saw one other caught! The Wilson was really hot. It sure slowed down, today! (Of course, cuz I was there!) I caught it just as the barometer took an upswing at 11 AM. I'm really into this barometer thingy. It seems to never fail. I catch fish on a rising barometer. Steelhead not so much, salmon? Yip. OK, now how do I fix salmon tonight? I know! Deep fried strips with sweet and sour sauce, stir fried veggies and fried rice. YUM! Jen

You know what? I just thought of this! See that cross I'm wearing? I put that on, last moment for good luck.
A combination of that and "sheer honey" lipstick did the trick! (Oh yeah, and Marie's sticky shrimp scent!) Jen

I am so glad you caught that fish!
Good day of fishing, versus a good day casting! ![]()

You are right! I am lucky, lucky!
However, I have no boat... so I have to talk this guy Bill here into thinking that we COULD make it into the Wilson, IF we go really fast on plane!!! Tee hee! He fell for it! And, we didn't get stuck, either! We just went really fast, and didn't look down! ...and Boatdog, I was due, that's for sure! I have been on a major skunk. I "cast" just about every day on the Kilchis, but I've done NOTHING! This is the first time in weeks that I've been anywhere that got me a fish! In fact, I'm embarrassed to say that the last salmon I caught was on October 9th!!! ![]() Jen

It doesn't look so eensy teensy of a fish to me! I was looking for something more like this, where my son got bored surgeon fishing from the bank and used a discarded pop bottle with line he found on the bank and caught the tiny one! Nice job!............L

If you like Caravelle, try Dan's favorite chili sauce. Similar to Caravelle but better! Look for the guys face with a goatee and a hat. Also, if you like teriyaki sauce on salmon, try Soy Vay Islander teriyaki sauce . That stuff rocks! Marinade in the sauce for an hour and pan fry or grill. Serve up with garlic mashed potatoes topped with pan fried cabbage that's been lightly sauted with Soy Vay Islander sauce . Oh man, I'm almost drooling on my keyboard. BTW no affiliation to either brand. Just my 2.5 canadian cents.

I'm surprised you didn't get a boat load of fish with that red hair. Figure the salmon see that and head straight for you.

Nice white belly Jen!
You know it's funny that you said somthing about the fight in these fish. The little buck I hooked on sunday did the same thing to me! It was only about 12, maybe 14#, but faught like a tarpon! Happy fishing. FF1

Nice fish Jen. We go through Caravelle like its free or something. My 2 and 4 yr. olds call it the "secret sauce". Take some of that leftover salmon, saute it with some garlic, a veggie or two and some fresh herbs from the garden, throw in some eggs and a splash of cold water to give it fluff, cover it with parmesean or provolone when the eggs are cooked, then put it under the broiler until golden... now secret sauce it. Yummmmmm! Another idea if you are tired of grilled salmon is to get some Indian curry powder, add some sweet potatoes and okra, cook some rice and call some friends... they will thank you. Salud e a la colada! lnf

Lilnorthfork, that sounds gooooooooooood! The indian dish! Whoo hooo! I've never cooked Indian, but you make it sound easy! I'd better get a lesson, though. When's dinner? I will thank you! Jen

Jennie, Throw in some home made bread pudding and I'll be over.
I will even do the dishes, and come back on the weekend to do the windows.. ( no bath rooms though)

Cooking Indian is soooo easy. Of course, to do it the traditional way, you start grinding spices before sun up to have dinner ready on time. I did some time in an Indian restaurant in Asia and got a few good cooking lessons. If you want, I'd be happy to pass along a coupla recipes for reallllly tasty dishes. lnf
