Default Another volunteer opportunity!

This is the same day as ifishstock, but if you can make it, it would be great! Ifishstock isn't until the afternoon, anyhow!

Jennie,
I am writing to tell you about a Tillamook Bay Watershed Council
volunteer work day at three Boat Ramp Restoration and
Enhancement Project sites and ask if you can publicize the
event. Many fishermen helped out with the project, so I wanted
to share this opportunity with them.

Last winter the Tillamook Bay Watershed Council and numerous
volunteers, including STEP volunteers, cleared invasive weeds
and planted native trees and shrubs at three Tillamook area boat
ramps. The Council is currently working to get some beautiful
wooden signs for these boat ramps. We've hired someone to keep
the brush down in the summer, but the sites need a little
on-going maintenence from volunteers.

We have scheduled a Tillamook Bay Watershed Council Volunteer
Work Day for Saturday, August 28th, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Volunteers are needed to cut back some of the grass,
blackberries, and other invasive plants from the newly planted
trees and shrubs. The sites look GREAT and are a huge
improvement over what we had before.

Volunteers just need to show up at one of the following places:
Mills Bridge Boat Ramp, Wilson River, Highway 6
Burton Boat Ramp, Tillamook River, intersection of Frasier and
Tillamook River Rds
Sollie Smith Ramp, Wilson River, intersections of Latimer Rd,
Wilson River Loop, and Sollie Smith Rd.

They should bring water to drink, work gloves, loppers or weed
eater if they have them. We will have equipment, coffee, and
donuts.

People can contact myself (info below) or Tracy Houlton at ODFW
(503) 842-2741

Thanks!

Default Re: Another volunteer opportunity!

Arn't all three of these County Ramps, maitained by the county with boat lic. fee's? Why not put volunteer hours on something that is not already paid for? Just a thought.
