Re: Fantastic bite at Odell Sunday
It was fun fishing around you the past couple days, we were in the blue Jetcraft. Folks could do a lot worse than just follow The Lucky Duck around, and a boat or two seemed to be doing just that, one I started calling the SS Remora. We ended up with about 60 Saturday just locating schools on the Furuno and getting upwind of them, drifting through with the drift sock out jigging over the same schools multiple times, from 20'-60' down.
You have a very good system going, the one I planned on going with once I spent the money (Riptide was ordered earlier this week). Thanks for providing me with the proof-of-concept
All that's left is the Humminbird. How long until you spring for the Humminbird 360? Do you ever feel limited having mounted the sidescan Xducer on the Terrova? I noticed you cruised pretty fast with it down.

It was a fun weekend, it looked like you guys were doing pretty good also. The 360 looks like the bomb, I wonder how much $$$$$ that's going to cost me . With the soft bottom of that lake in 100 feet of water I was able to go up to 6 mph and look 180 feet on each side of the boat. What an advantage it was. . The trick was to leave the schools that would not play, (no matter how big) even had to leave jumpers if they wouldnt bite. There were a lot of complaints from the peanut gallery when I did that.

Re: Fantastic bite at Odell Sunday
I was looking for the Hummingbird fish finder called The Lucky Duck, but they don't carry that model. Looks like a great day!

$2k MSRP for just the Xducer. You already have the head unit.

Orange or Orange/white, Pink/Pearl still works, too. Kokanators, Gibbs, Crippled Herring. Had no luck on the creepy one-eye jigs or the teardrop-shaped ones.

Re: Fantastic bite at Odell Sunday
Ah yes the old Crescent hex jigs. 2nd from right. You can only find them a couple places. I was told the old maker sold the molds to a new local outfit . For a couple years you could'nt find them at all. They are good for jigging deep because they weigh a lot.

They used to be my favorite jig at Odell, but then I'm not a very good jigger.

Re: Fantastic bite at Odell Sunday
I don't understand jigging with Buzz Bombs. How is it supposed to work? When letting it flutter down or letting it go slack, the lure slides up from the hook a foot or more. How are you supposed to hook a fish that way? The flutter did look nice, but there was no business end at that point. I gave up after a short while.

You didn't happen to lose an anchor out there last year did you? Long story short, we snagged an anchor line with BOTH downriggers the last day of the 2011 season out there. Fought it for about an hour without success, and finally had to hand pull the rigger/weight up and low and behold I had about 100' of rope and an anchor.... Attached to the rope were 4 identical jigs.....
Anyone need their anchor back?
