Clackamas steelhead.

I was curious on Steelhead in the Clackamas.... is steelhead in the water year round? Right now is there winter and summers? if not the summers will coming in bulk at the end of the month with the salmon? trying to get an idea when to fish it. when there is fresh fish in the waterz.

Most rivers that have both summer & winter runs like the Clack, Sandy, Wilson, etc, will have fresh steelhead in them year-round as the late winters will overlap with the early summers. Maybe less so on the bigger southern rivers like the Umpqua & Rogue where the summer run tends to come later than up north.

It's my favorite time of the year on the Clack other than the high water making some access kinda spotty. But there's winter nates, winter hatchery and summers should be trickling in. I'll be out tomorrow drifting the upper stretches.
