Default Who knows this boat?

If any one can put me in contact with the Skipper/owner of this boat, I would sure appreciate it. My wife and I are in the market for an alloy pilothouse, and are considering Dave Norvelle as the builder. I have been able to speak with many other owners of different brands, but Norvelle is the only one I am missing.

I saw this boat on one of the OTC threads just recently.

Thanks!

The "Ice Lady" would be Kelli Bestwick's boat. We fished with her a couple weeks ago, and I caught my first albacore on a fly. (and it kicked my butt with a 12wt!) Great boat! <non sponsor contact info removed by moderator>

Welcome.

Nice fish.

Please share some ideas on how you were hooking up, chumming them up with bait or sliding in on boiling fish?

Hi... thanks for the welcome, and hope I'm not stealing this thread.
This was our first trip albacore fishing with a fly, but this worked for us: Kelli was able to find some live (and dead) anchovies so we would troll flies until we hooked up then chum and cast. Seemed like if we let the fly sink 30'-40' then a very fast strip back up got the most hook ups. So... we used 500-600gr. sinking lines, and a fly much like Mark's sardina:

The fish in the jpg took nearly 200yds on the first run, and I felt a little under gunned with a 12wt, but had lots of gel-spun backing. Think we ended up with 11-12 tuna, and we'll fish with Kelli again next year for sure.

Dave just changed his email address, and I don't have the new one. <edit by moderator>

Thanks guys for the quick replies!

Nordic Sun- I have spoken with Dave at length, and have a good plan for a new hull. What I would like is to talk with Norvelle owners. I have no doubt that Dave makes some incredible boats; wouldn't be considering him if that were not the case.

In our research, we have spoken with Coldwater, Gacier Craft, Pacific, Bay weld, and Seawolf owners. I would like to talk with some Norvelle owners, and get first hand accounts.

Firefly- I am currently stationed in the Philippines, and wont be back till February-ish. Does she have an email? BTW- Beautiful fish!!!

As a former Tillamook County Boat Builder, I can tell you from experience, that Dave Norvell is a stand up guy. He is a perfectionist. His boats are beautiful. He's up on Miami River Road. His shop isn't much to look at....but he a a true "craftsman". If price isn't an object...Dave will build you a super sweet ride.
