Better get one, (or any Mag Lip!) because....The first ifisher to post a photo of a spring chinook caught from the Columbia (congrats to Heatmiser for getting the first Columbia fish posted!), Willamette, Cowlitz, Lewis, Sandy, Clackamas, Drano(congrats to Starfish for the first Drano fish posted!), Umatilla, Snake, Clearwater, or Wind (congrats to M Bite for the first Wind fish posted!)River during the 2010 season will win 6 free Mag Lips! One prize consisting of 6 Mag Lips for the angler that posts the first Mag Lip caught chinook from each body of water! This means 8 total winners! Included in the photo must be the Mag Lip lure hanging from the fishes mouth or held next to the fish and include information about exactly where it was caught and how much the salmon weighed. It must be a hatchery fish. Yakima Bait would also like to award a prize to the ifisher that catches the *largest* Spring Chinook salmon of the season on a Mag Lip. Only photo entries will be accepted and each entry must include a photo of the salmon with a Mag Lip lure in its mouth or held next to it and information about where it was caught. Not sure if this is the first fish caught or if this pic will even count. I was fishing solo today (2/20/10) in the Columbia River (catch area code 523) and didn't bring a camera along. My wife took this photo moments after arriving home.
Started off trolling at 7:00AM with a different lure. About 20 boats out and I didn't see any nets fly the whole morning. I switched over to the Mag Lips around 8:30AM and hooked this 14.5 lb. hatchery beauty around 9:15AM. I was flatlining the plug trolling it downstream during high slack. I bought the lure just a week ago at the recommendation of a salesman at Fisherman's Marine in Portland (thanks for the help on the color choice!). No sardine wrap, but I did put a little shrimp and anise sent on the belly of the lure. Also, I just ordered the ifish sticker for the boat 2 days ago. Sure glad I did! Heatmiser |

Here's another pic of the fish with one of my little ones.
I have to admit that catching this fish was a great ending to a day that had a rough start ... (1) forgot the depth finder in the garage, (2) left my coat and Grunden pants on the couch so I was pretty cold all morning, and (3) I about lost the fish at the net trying to get it aboard solo. I've heard of a lot of fish being caught on Mag-Lips, so after giving some thought to the contest I've streamlined the rules up some. Hopefully we will see some photos, so that I can send out some free Mag-Lips to the winners.
Best, Buzz Ramsey |

Whoops! Just noticed that I need to add the size of the fish - it was 13 lbs, caught trolling flatlined with about 75 feet of line (obviously, before the crowds hit) and with a sardine wrap. ![]() That's a "Good Ole Boy" Mag Lip in its mouth. WIND River May 1st, 2010
Hello... not sure if this counts.. being I'm not a "contributing" member partly due to being shy. But anyway for what it's worth... if you havn't fished any of these M2-SP maglips... MAN you guys need to. Wrap them with Sardines and flat line em. I was hesitant to jump on the mag lip ban wagon... UNTILL NOW! Every year we fish the Wind River for springers. And over the years I have gathered a nice collection of old school storm mag warts that have been catching fish there. Well On May,1st we were trolling and the bite was a little slow, there was fish caught... one here one there. But nothing like what I thought the morning bite would be with the dam counts as big as they have been. The Columbia was dirty.. I'd say about a foot of vis. and most the fish we seen caught was around the mud line on mag wiggle warts. Are plugs weren't getting it done. So I wanted to fish a little bigger plug, with a litttle more sent (wrapped). I went out 25 pulls and on are first pass I got this guy. Long story short... we went 3 for 5 fishing these Mag lips wrapped with sardines. I have always been worried about loosing my old school wiggle warts to snags... being they don't make them any more. UNTILL NOW. Gold double trouble went 2 for 3. And all flat RED went 1 for 2. 25 pulls with 30 pound power pro... tring to stay in deeper water (15 to 17 feet). Sorry for the poor mug shot and blood... it was the only pic I had with the plug in it's mouth with the Wind river in the back ground.
