Default finish issue

I have a fly rod that I built that has a couple guides with uneven finish. It is past the 48 hour cure time on the threadmaster light that I used. Is there a way to apply new finish to the guides, despite the finish being completly set up? I would rather not have to take the guides comletly off and rewrap them.

Absolutely!

Just apply another coat of finish. I've apply more finish even after a week or more without any issues but it is recommended that past 24hrs you scuff the existing finish with a scotch-bright pad first to enhance the new coat bonding with the old.

If your first coat is REALLY uneven or wavy you should block-sand it and or slice with a razor to remove the high spots first though otherwise the latter coat will be about as uneven as the first. After all, finish is just another liquidwhen it's applied.

Thanks for the tip. I will try it out tommorow. The rod fishes great, but I hate seeing the uneven finish every time I cast the rod.
