Default Goodbye Lyster's

Visited Sherry Lyster's store this weekend. Get a good look while you can, she says the fire department is going to burn the store down. Sad day, Tillamook bay will never be the same. For God knows how many years Leadball stopped in for bait and stuff I forgot and she was always cheerful, full of good advice and had good fresh bait. Best wishes Sherry! See ya on the water.

I believe she has planned her retirement for some time and has been trying to sell the business for quite a while.

Like Pete says, this has been in the works for a while. She is letting the GFD to a learn burn on the structure. Her taxes will be less on vacant land while she waits for a person or developer to purchase the land.

All good things must come to an end. This family has contributed a lot to the county over the years.

I've said my goodbyes several times and it never gets easier.

It's with a heavy we say

She will be missed along with that great view of the Bay her web cam offered. I stopped in to pick up bait and buy a few last minute things every time I was down there. She always knew what was going on with the fishing and the area in general. Her dad used to own the Jetty Fishery on the Nehalem. I think he was the harbour master there for years and tended the Bouys. Anyway, good luck Sherry and hope you have a great retirement. You will be missed. Have fun!!!!!

My wife and I said our goodbyes a few weeks back. She showed us pictures of her new (to her) home and it's acreage. She has been planning her retirement for a few years...and the day finally arrived. We always stopped for bait, good conversation, advice and fishing info...and fresh oysters in the shell for the barbecue. Many years of fond memories. Thanks for all that you have done Sherry...we're gonna miss you

Enjoy your retirement, Sherry!! You'll be missed, that's for sure!! I've looked forward to your entertaining stories and quick wit for years. Now I'll have to find a different place to buy my license and bait. I too, will miss that Jetty Cam..
Again, enjoy your time off, you've earned it!

Smart move to donate the building to the fire department. I did that with a house we were going to knock down anyway and was able to write the entire value of the building off of my tax bill. They played in the house for a day doing some smoke drills, breaking in through the roof, doors windows. Wouldn't burn it because of the proximity to the nearby grove of tall firs. Only works if you have a tax liability though.
