Default Salmonberry Bridge

Woke up this morning thinking about camping on the Nehalem again. Sure miss going the Spruce Run route.
Anyone hear about any bridge repairs in the plans.

Not unless you plan on a long walk or can fly your rig over the Salmonberry River.

Earlier this year a friend of mine took a drive down from 26 to the washout. There was a large semi-truck that had taken that route because his GPS told him to. He was at the bridge with nowhere to go. No place to turn around. I imagine it was a long back up.

Not that road but you can take hwy 53 from 26 to 101.
Comes out right between Wheeler and Nehalem.
Its the most winding, twisting highway that Iv'e driven on.
Made my wife car sick.... Guess we won't be taking that route any time soon.

Thanks guys, I used to drive that route to spend the night at a hotel to warm up and get recharged after long weekend of hunting. Good to know it's no longer an option.

I love the twisty Hwy 53 drive! If and when I get somebody on my tail, the next pullout or wide spot in the road works for me to let them by. A good buddy that's likes scenic rides on his Harley expressed to me that the "Hwy 53 run" is now one of his favorites after I sent him that way one beautiful summer day.

I do miss the drive down the Nehalem...

Is any of the rail system there being down part of the reason the local train owners are having a bad time?
