Suspect this has been hashed out before, but will ask again please,
Once the Coho/salmon pass over the falls in Oregon City, is it pointless to target them until they reach the tribs or could I expect success around I5 area? If so what ramp for lauching and general areas to fish, and how far south ??? (I live in Hillsboro) Would hardware be the ticket??

Go to Newburg at Rodgers Landing to let in. You can see the ramp by Log pond on the chart. Travel up river to Ash Island staying to the left. Just past that on the left is a slot next to the bank that many boats anchor and run spinners for Springers. I would expect Cohos would travel that area as well. I would expect you will see others around that area, just watch what there doing and use what you got. Just past Ash Island look for the Nehalem River on the right. It's not much farther on the left you will most likely see others fishing that area. I hope this helps.

The area where Roostertail is talking about above Ash island I've seen people on both sides of the river. I think right now the right side is pretty darn shallow tho. Just take it easy, watch your depth and who knows!

I read that the the ODFW is tagging silvers at the falls to see where they are going. Somebody knows but just ain't talkin! Kinda like when we used to fish for winter steelhead above the falls and were the only ones.

Sand Salvador Beach. Goggle it and go through St.Paul Sorry for the river mark. Yamhill is correct. A couple years back I took Willy with me there at San Salvador Beach and in 15 min. had hooked up with two Steelhead and lost them both.

I observed a troll fishery in the willamette area of west linn, nice launch there. Go up stream and troll the mouth of the tualatin. (zipperlip spot).

There is a small boat ramp almost straight west of St. Paul. Go into St. Paul (From North) and turn right where the hardware/implement dealer used to be. Follow it through the farmland, no turns, you'll end up on the river. There is some bank access there.

Mouth of the Yamhill has been slow. Not as many fish jumping as there were a few weeks ago.

I know a guy who was actually entered in a bass tourney there in the newberg to dundee stretch of the willamette last year and limited on cohos within 20 min fishing for bass. he said he could of stayed and caught and released all day. the bait of choice was a red craw colered bomber crank bait.

Is there any bank access to the mouth of the yamhill? I grew up in the area and have never heard of any, but just am curious.

Consider that tip stored away in the ole space tween my ears.
![]() I've only been to the mouth once, in a boat and I don't recall any "public" access.
