Im thinking grouse! Either carry a judo in the quiver while chasing elk, or have a shotgun in the backseat when driving from one hunting area to another. So far in the last 3 days of hiking and or glassing new areas I've seen 17 grouse!!!!! Almost all would have been easy shots. I hope they stay dumb just a bit longer!

We will be heading out east to Winet (MT) looking to fill 5 limits of sage hens.We may get a chance for some Sharptail if we take care of the "HEN" thing early enough.

Grouse ae a ball buster early in the season... the cover is so thick on the west side.

So I'll be hunting grouse and Chasing Ol' Alex with a shotgun in hand and about 4 lbs of camera gear hanging around my neck.

If you see a black shaggy hound with a bright orange collar and hear a swearing scotsman crashing through the brush.. That will be me.

Dove Update-Pine Grove

Puffin, BananaMan, and buddy Mark showed up at 6:30 for the opening morning. Plenty of birds around. Made a walk around the fields and ended up with about 15 total. Missed plenty as well. Did have one coyote bust out of the grass and was quickly fallen by a round of 20 ga. #8's. I have never shot a coyote at such close range with a shot gun.

I came to work and the boys set up a few dove decoys in the trees and hunkered down for the day.

Sounds like Maverick and one of his buddies is on their way over as well. Should be a good afternoon shoot with that bunch.
