Default Invisible fence help!

My girlfriend's black lab is a runner. One ajar door and she's gone and we get a phone call a half hour later from someone who has babysat her while she noses around their dog!

My question; What invisible fence or shock collar (combo?) do you guys recommend? Any other ideas?

We can't go out front without her wanting to go explore!!!!!!

THANKS,

BU

We used the Pet Safe brand, buried wire type invisible fence. The company was real good about helping us anytime we called. It worked great with our old Lab. He spent most of his life trying to get to the other side of the fence. He did eventually figure out that when the battery was dead he could make a run for it, so I would get on the companies battery replacement program. One caution/problem we had occurred after we got two dogs that love to wrestle. The one dog figured the receiver on the other dog made a great place to grab hold and hang on! $60 +- every time she ripped it loose and ate it. We use a hot wire with the new dogs.

THANKS! But why did you have to call? Problems with the product?

We used it for a border collie fence jumper we had. It worked awesome!!

I would recommend the stuborn dog collar for a bigger dog. It gives an audible warning then if they get closer it starts to vibrate then shocks if they move closer to the line. You can adjust the sensitivity to warn at 5 feet or up to like 30 feet. Some of them will do large acreage too. A good product I would recommend....

BU- I don't own a dog and everybody I know who used the inv.fence said they worked great except--------The one I witnessed one day working in front of this ladies house. She had two dogs both were runners one mut and one beautiful full bred hi-strung dalmation. She opened the door and out came both dogs doing mach 2 and the lady in hot pursuit screeming.
The mut came to a screeching halt about 5' from the inv.fence. But the dalmation had figured it out. If he just kept running at mach 2 it would only hurt once. It let out a little yelp when it hit the buried fence but never slowed down and the lady was in hot pursuit and I was lmao.
Just reading this thread brought back memories I thought I would share.
Maybe they have some kind or warranty or something. Anyways good luck and I hope it all works out.

THAT is why the collar can be turned up to 30 feet. That is 60 feet total. It may not still stop a really, really, really determined dog, but I suspect that training to stay away from open doors would help a lot too.

I have two very different dogs. Both are hounds. The one that be gone over three counties after the neighborhood cat will not go out the open door. The one that would take two days to get down 4 houses trying to smell every square inch of what he can see will try to sneak out if the screen door closes just a bit too slow. I'm glad it isn't the other way around.

Never had a mfg problem, always self inflicted.
Parts mainly, New receivers, new batteries. Once we had a receiver fail due to ice/water and they replaced it at no charge and overnight shipped it. We have a small pond at our place and the dog would get in there all the time! Had the wire get cut one time by some guys working in the yard, they helped figure that out too.
