Default When a Salty Dog talks, Listen!

Ive only been with this group three years and thanks to many Salty Dogs, in my book I have been very sucessful at Tuna and Halibut fishing. Sat 7-8 it happened again. Had the family out at the pile chasing halibuts and it was slow. 10:30 AM no fish the bag, released a chicken and needed 5 to go. Plan "B" go to the Chicken Ranch, right? Well it didnt sound promising either and the seas were not 1 and 3, a bit bumpier. As it has happened so many times before Id get a call to try something different or get called in on a bite from a Salty Dog. This time it was CJ to try a different spot. To make a long story short, we motored to a new spot and within 2 hours we had 5, yes FIVE BUTTS on board, 47,46,38,37, and a 33. And to think, CJ said there was no gaurentee.
Thanks CJ! That Boston Whaler looks pretty nice by the way.

Yes, it does pay to share. Sharing locations of fish was happening out on the tuna grounds too, at least among some folks. Helped me and I appreciate it.

Hey I was out there myself and faought all day for bites with no hookups!! then guess what happened...I was listening to CH68 and two guys I know from Ifish were talking each other into good drifts. I loked over saw they were right near us. on our next drift we stepped in behind them and BAM,BAM,,,BAM

we picked up two descent butts and NICE one at just a hare over 50"...interestingly enough we ran into them at the cleaning station. Thanks to Jerry, mike, and steve!!

Sharing of info leads to better fishing and better friends. Better friends leading to better safety on the water. That is what makes this club great. There is no delight in knowing anything unshared.
Great post and good fishing

We fished friday with kenai as a wingman. We dropped lines a little earlier than he and had on in the box pretty quick. Then trolled for two hors with nothing. Kenai called us in to his bite a few miles away. 2 minutes after we got there we had a double....then a triple.....then a quad. Several more of those made our day. It fun to hear the guys chatter back and forth, calling out numbers and tips on how.

What a great way to put it. I get to teach a few people how to fish and all I ask from them is that they pass it on.

Nice job. We made the run to the ranch, and did not fare well. The drift was all kiddy-wampus, and we (and everybody else) were losing all kinds of gear. We managed 3 for 5, with two dinks tossed back, fishing hard all day. Never had such a slow, frustrating, day out at the ranch. Managed 9 crab or so, with all but one in one pot out of five.

Even a bad day of fishing is still pretty dang fun.

SA,
Your welcome. While I'm not one to advertise numbers to put the flotilla where I'm fishing, I don't mind putting some fellow Dogs on some fish.
Hopefully someday someone else will return the favor. Pay it forward, karma etc.
It was good fishing with you and I'm glad we found the halis.
Oh yea, I sure like the old man's Whaler too
I learned a lot of my lessons from my old 20' Bayliner and his old 19' Reinell so you won't see me turning my nose.
