Man, the hummies are wild today!
They are attacking each other and spitting out this totally venomous song at each other... Tickaticka tchoooooooooooooooooooo! Man, they are vicious! If they were bigger, they'd be dangerous! It's fun to watch them attack! Jen

It's so weird, too. They fight all day, and then about dinner time in the evening, they all sit down together and eat peacefully.
Odd behavior, those birds.

Did you really actually get one to sit on your finger? That would seem to be very unusual for one of those little guys to be that brave with anyone.

If you want to get a really good show. Sit by the feeders wearing a red hat.

Yes, they are pretty tame, here. And, so busy that they don't care. Come on over, and you can do it, too. You just have to be a little patient.
stand behind the feeders and put your finger on the ledge, where they land. Now, Jim Erickson does this and then snaps their little feeties off, or so he says! (He really doesn't, but he likes to be crude that way!) Anyhow, you can then pick the birds up and they'll stay for a while. (not long!) Jen

If Francis was a turkey vulture that was sitting on your finger, then yes, you are losing it. A hummer, heck no.
When rowing in the Grand Canyon, they would come and sit on our boats as we floated along. When we got to a small rapid, they would fly off and hover just above the waves. I think catching droplets of water. When we were at the bottom of the rapid, they would sometimes come back. Amazing how something so small and fragile can do all that they can.

What is your secret nectar for them Jennie? I've seen a few around my feeder but they don't seem to be very interested in it.

I sharpened them too much when trying to get the light right. Next time they will get better.
Hummingbird season doesn't last long enough for me to get this right.
