Temp over 102 last night... feeling yucky. :depressed:
But, I got up this morning and the water was sooooooooo pretty. I had to go! I just had to! So, I swallowed my meds, struggled slowly to get on some rain gear, trudged out to the river. I was just going to make a couple casts, just cuz I had to. Now, I made these pictures big, because without them big, the spots weren't nearly so pretty! Anyhow, landed 3 of 5 out of one hole! I couldn't stop! Now, I feel just awful... but wonderful at the same time! I'm going to go back to bed, but I'm giggling as I go! I only took pics of one of the fish cuz I'm not very good at it. I had a heck of a time trying not to touch it much and take pics. Did I do wrong the way I did it? Go ahead and tell me if I did. I can take it! Anyhow... it was a blast! Get out there! Just fish shallow and with littler jigs and smaller shrimps! And, crawl up to the hole. It's crystal clear out there. You'll spook them if you don't! Jen

Frankly, I think I've given up on getting well.
I just go ahead and go no matter what! Why wait when it might never come?

Funny how beautiful steelhead get when they are late in the stages. We don't usually comment on how beautiful a chum is, or a late fall nook.
I've always thought late chums were beautiful... but still, not nearly like these natives. They are just flat out mesmerizing. Jen

Get better but you have to fish all the time to get better.
Very nice fish and the colors are just great. Get back to bed and dream of the ones tomorrow jumping across the pond. Thanks for the pictures. |

Beauty of a fish.

OK, I want to know. If you are alone, and want to take a picture, what is the best way? To tail it like I did? Or just hold the head up a bit with the line, or???
Tell me. I'll get back and tell you how I do the next one.

Jennie look at the last picture and it is amazing look at the water swirls on the left side of the fish and it looks like you are looking at a reflection of your face or another woman, it blew me away looking at it. It is almost like one of those 3D pictures.

Why is it that every time I cancel a trip down there you catch fish shortly thereafter? I should cancel for you more often.

Hey Jennie - Great pictures. It looks like the new camera is doing O.K. If you wet your hand before you touch the fish it does less harm. This fish looks like it's headed for the ocean. Next time it comes back it will be even bigger.

![]() As far as taking pics solo, yes, it can be a bit tricky, but it can be done: C&R king pics taken solo There's a number of ways to do it. First detail is to have the camera handy and attached to long strap around your neck in case you drop it or suddenly need both hands to tend to the fish. My first attempt at a shot is the first pass at trying to slide the fish into the shallows... just snap away as its belly slides onto the gravel (but still supported by water). That is what I like to do with bigger fish, say over 20#. Gotta be fast as they don't hold still for very long. If the fish is small enough ( say under 10#) and the leader heavy enough, I just grab the leader without sliding them ashore. That allows sufficient control of the fish while standing in deeper water for a brief photo-op. On a medium sized fish, I like to tail them for a nice head-in-the-water shot just like you did with yours, Jennie.
