Come experience the thrill of bait fishing HUGE florida keys tarpon in 2012! Starting in the early spring (as early as Febuary in some cases, depending on weather and temperatures) big schools of migrating tarpon show up off the cape and backcountry of southern florida. As the season progresses they make there way all over the islands of the florida keys, from Key West to Key Largo. This provides for excellent angling opportunites from shallow water skiffs and center consoles to catch large tarpon, some up to 200 lbs! We often dead bait, live bait, and even fly fish for these fish. Peak time is April through June, though often we can catch them almost 10 months out of the year if it is warm! They are one of the most sought after gamefish in the world, and this is one of the best and prettiest places on earth to catch them! Forget about Boca Grande, where you are fishing with literally hundreds of other boats around you that you can pratically walk on - come on down to Islamorada, the sportfishing capital of the world! Often times you may be the only boat around as you can watch the sunset (or sunrise) while tarpon chase your baits, and you can do this on a half day trip!! The full day fishing in the everglades is also a great place to catch them earlier in the year and throughout the summer, very remote and often nobody else around - plus plenty of big sharks, random sawfish and goliath groupers, and of course trout, ladyfish, redfish, snook, and more!
