Re: Tablet advice ????

I don't think it would really work well for the original posters needs, due to size, but the Google Nexus 7 is the small tablet to beat, without a doubt. $200, full google play store app access, and...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

Finally got around to going through the last six months of photos. I actually had a lot better stuff than I remembered taking.

Re: Robins

The Anna's Hummingbirds that winter in the NW have only moved into the area in the last 50 years. Previous to that they were mainly in California. The theory is that they take advantage of ornamental...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

Wow, killer photos, especially the Sooty. I've seen them many times, but never a male displaying so prominently.

I've been taking plenty of photos, but haven't had much time to sit down and weed...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

For the first time in my life I went and chased a rarity this weekend. We've only had two Painted Buntings recorded in Washington state and I couldn't resist such a beautiful (and hard to photograph)...

Re: Is Bigfoot real???

I believe I made a long-winded post about this earlier in the thread (or another ifish thread on the same topic), but it is actually incredibly difficult to capture good video/photos of perfectly...

Re: Is Bigfoot real???

The Marble Mountain video is a pretty bad example of evidence that bigfoot exists. I don't have time to go hunt them down, but there's an awful lot of evidence showing it's just some folks goofing...

Re: Heading to yellowstone late next week

Additionally, be prepared for lots of traffic jams over wildlife that is either non-existent or not particularly special. Even one person glassing an area can lead to a feeding frenzy as everyone...

Re: Heading to yellowstone late next week

What are you looking to do/see? Wildlife? Scenery? Fishing?

I spent my entire trip in Yellowstone looking for Moose only to be disappointed and find out that Grand Teton (which we'd already...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

Canon 50D w/ a Canon EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 lens. Good light and cooperative birds really help.

Having been in 110 degree dry heat and 95 degree humid heat recently I still prefer it to...

^^ That photo is awesome.

Hope you all don't mind a deluge of Florida birds.

Re: Birders? Anyone?

I'll have tons of out-of-state birds to post if you can wait. Between work and vacation I've been home exactly 1 day out of the last three weeks and I've had no time to go through the 40gb of photos...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

Hope you all do not mind a bit of a image dump. I've been taking a lot more photos than I have time to go through, edit, and upload.

From Vancouver Island last weekend:

Re: Redfield Binoculars

One other thing I'll mention that surprised me about the Redfield's, but may not surprise most of you. Up until now I've used mostly cheap binoculars and currently had a pair of Bushnell Falcons that...

Re: Redfield Binoculars

I just got a pair of the 8x32's this last week and I like them a lot. Bright, clear, compact and solid. I do wish they made an 8x42 to gather a little more light near twilight and be a little easier...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

You're killing me with those Rufus shots, Brute. I hear the males all the time, but haven't gotten any to stop in good light. The shot below was cropped so heavily I'm amazed it's presentable.

Re: 2.5" hoochie for kokes question

I've tried dipping hoochies in very hot (almost boiling) water and then flaring out the skirt with my finger and dipping it under cold water to "set" the plastic back. I haven't gotten them wet yet,...

Re: Birders? Anyone?

Thanks! If only our swallows would stay quite as still. We had a couple very beautiful days last week in Seattle. Last weekend actually felt more like May than March.

Re: Birders? Anyone?

Nice shots. I have been trying to get shots of all of these birds, but they either haven't shown up yet (Bittern) or are impossible to shoot (Tree Swallow and those %#$%$#%$#%$# Marsh Wrens which...

Good news if true. I can't find any other info on the internet about it, but it could still be far enough out that they're not announcing it officially.

It's too bad we won't also get the cheap...

Ahh, too bad. I've been wanting to see a Great Horned this year, but that's a bit of a drive from Seattle
