I completely understand the "rusty hook" theory and agree that it can hold better than a slick polished new hook. Thinking about roughing up a few hooks in strategic places and putting them in salt...

What about circle hooks? Wouldn't they in theory stay on better? And work better because the way we fish here is by letting them take the bait and hook themselves anyway?

I have just been pinching the barbs on my Gami Octopus hooks #3 and #4s for mooching herring. Obviously, there is going to be more fish lost due to using barbless, but has anyone had more success...

IMO OP should have been good to go. Standard seems like it should be okay to leave your anchor for 15 or 20 minutes for a quick potty break or to pick someone up, but then better be at the dock ready...

I can tell you that we were out 50 miles last year at one point, my cell signal was long gone, but the GPS was still working. I assume it works off of the satelites.
