Re: Gun stock broke mid shot

I have an old rifle with a crack in that same area. For what it is worth, a gunsmith told me that whatcould have happened is the gun was upright and somehow got knocked over. He has seen cracks...

Re: hip replacement ?

I had left side done six years ago. Dr. Dewillius (SP) at St. Vincent is the man. He is an expert in using minimally invasive surgery. Had it done on a Tuesday and was working in my home office part...

Re: Steaming Crab?

We usually only do six or fewer crabs at a time as that's all we need for the meal. Tradition is to boil salt water in the pot, add some Guiness, give some Guiness to the person cooking (that's me!)...

Re: Entry Level Pronghorn Rifle for under $1000?

I shot my Wyoming antelope with a 30-30 Winchester lever action and open sights. I do agree with others that a Savage rifle from a place like BiMart is a very high value choice and will provide years...

Re: Lessons learned/Lucky to be alive

Glad it ended safely for you Hoghunter. For those that have never had to swim with your clothes on it is not easy - especially in cold water.

I would like to add one more thought to always wearing...

Re: Drain hole in side of driftboat?

I have an older Radon fiberglass drift boat with a drain hole in the side right behind the rower's seat. Works fine and never had a problem. It would be very difficult for a rock to knock it loose.

Re: Best 5-6 HP kicker

I have a six HP Suzuki on my driftboat. It seems to vibrate less then the Nissan (Tohatsu/Mercury) that I had previously. I could never get the friction lock on the Nissan to hold the motor straight...

Re: Fin for kicker ona driftboat?

I had one on the six horse on my fiberglass drift boat and took it off for two reasons. First, it really didn't help much because by nature of the design of a driftboat you cannot get enough speed to...

Re: Driveway sealcoat recommendation?

I just finished sealcoating my driveway myself. Went to one of the big box stores websites (I don't think I am allowed to mention the name here) and ordered their airport grade asphalt sealer. They...

Re: Man Over Board on Columbia...

In addition to the PFD, might not hurt to tie a whistle to it if fishing solo. This could be your lifeline to getting someone's attention

Re: Whats your favorite technique for jigging for walleye?

Don't want to steal the thread but when you are jigging are you anchored, drifting, or at a sloooow troll? Thanks

Re: anybody have a Netarts crabbing report?

For safety reasons I only crab the incoming tide. Makes it a whole lot easier if there is an engine failure. It is amazing how many go out on the ebb tide with one engine and in boats too big to row....

Re: What to look for when buying used boat?

Another possible consideration could be a drift boat with outboard. They are very stable in the bays for crabbing and work well on lakes and rivers. You won't go anywhere fast but you will get there...

Re: Outboard:Clacka SSG 16 Driftboat

I have a 16 ft fiberglass drift boat and just bought a new 6hp Suzuki 4 stroke. Weight is a concern so could not move up to an 8 hp. The 6 trolls really nice and I don't feel the vibration is...

Re: Outboard kicker question.....

I had a Nissan (Tohatsu) 6 hp single cylinder. It ran nice but as others have commented did shake pretty bad at troll speed. The main issue was that the steering tensioner could not be tightened...

Re: valco boats

I have a 14 ft Valco with 15 hp on it. Great little boat for fishing lakes etc. They are riveted and I have had no leak problems. If they do leak it is easy to hit the rivet a few times and seal it...
