Re: crab cooker

Stainless is the best, but I have been using a cheap aluminum pot I picked up over 15 years ago and it has worked just fine. We just cooked 4 limits of crab this week.

I did upgrade my burner in...

Re: Help Scoring this Ram?

I think most have called it pretty close. I'm thinking high 140s to low 150's First thing I saw was the lack of mass from the side. A mid one fifties+ ram typically carries more mass than that...

Re: Owyhee sheep tag!

My brother had the tag many years ago (1995 I believe). We put his boat in down near the dam (I think that is Gordon Creek). From there we ran up the lake (away from the dam), I'm gonna guess about...

Re: My son the new hunter.

Since he is 17, he may still be eligible for First Time Hunter tags. Super opportunity for youth for some great tags. Check out the regulations (page 86 of the 2014 regs).

If he had never drawn...

Re: 1000 yard scope

Do some research on what Mark Thompson uses for his 1000 yard shooting school. For the past 20 year's been making a living training around 3000 thousand hunters to shoot at 1000 yards with simple,...

Re: Controlled Hunt odds question

I would think with 20 tags and 1200 applicants, you are not in the preference point draw pool with only 3 points, so this is based on drawing in the random pool.

For the random pool, 25% of the...

Re: Controlled Hunts all unsuccessful

So that raises the question, why did he not draw it on his 4th choice, if tags were issued to 5th choice applicants? Maybe it was actually his 5th choice…..or I wonder if he had a non-resident in...

Re: Controlled Hunts all unsuccessful

Whenever you apply for a #2, #3, #4 or #5 choice, it is a wasted choice if you apply for a hunt that historically has far more first choice applicants than tags that are available. The only time you...

Re: Crawfish question

One way is if you take the center flipper on the tail, twist it 90° and pull, the tract comes out of the tail. Boil them AFTER you do this.

I usually just peal the tract out after I pick the tail...

Re: Crawfish question

I think cold and moist is the right move. We just (a week ago) caught a bunch and they started to get very lethargic in the bucket of water just a couple hours. We had one escape in the truck and...

Pole Creek Muzzleloader Elk

My wife drew one of the random draw tags for the Pole Creek muzzleloader elk hunt this year. With the low draw odds, it came as quite a surprise to us. She started hunting in 2010 and is a tag...
