Smile Re: Delta diver/flasher wrap?

I leave the gear on the rod. I wrap the line from the tip down to the reel stem and then back up to an eye support. This takes care of the length of the setup. I prevent spinning flasher by using...

Re: Fuel prices along the coast

I know that diesel fuel at the port of Siuslaw is $3.89/Gal. If fuel is cheaper at Salmon harbor/Winchester Bay by a significant amount it may be worthwhile to motor on down...

Blue skies and fair winds. I don't care if your opinion is different than mine. I would still tow you back in.

Re: down riggers for coho

I use a pair of downriggers for coho. I fish them at 1.5 to 2.5 mph, they seem to like a little more speed than Chinook. I will not fish the center of a rip, instead I fish one side or the other. ...

Re: Led Light Bar?

Good point on the lights when meeting other boats. I don't meet very many boats when leaving the Siuslaw bar. Thanks for the suggestion of the FLIR. I looked at the prices and capabilities. The...

Re: Led Light Bar?

I looked at some light bars and see that they like to put floods on the outside ends. I also see the bars can be straight or curved. My thinking is to go with a straight bar to get most of the light...

Re: Led Light Bar?

Thanks for the input Eric. I saw another post and they mentioned problems with reflections off the front of the boat. I will have to look at ways to mitigate the reflection. I was thinking that I...

I was on the beach at 9:00 am and saw the boats crabbing. The boats that caught fish were not visible, so my guess would be 200 to 300 ft. I repeat that is a guess.

The fish checker tallied two fin clipped coho today in Florence by noon. Two different boats. Saw three limits of crab, taken in 40 to 50 ft.
