I know many of you that patronize ifish sponsor River City Fly Shop will be saddened to hear that Marty Day, one of the guys who works at River City, was killed in a car accident while fishing in Idaho today.
Marty was also VP of Washington County Fly Fishers. I was forunate enough to fish with Marty and Pete awhile back and he was a great guy. Always cheerful and helpful to whomever came into the shop.

Stew,

I didn't know Marty Day but it is always a sad day when someones life is cut short by a tragic event such as a car accident. Although, I am not a deeply religious person I will say a small prayer for him and his family. Events such as this always manage to bring life back into prespective and remind me to be thankful for what I have because it can be gone in an instant.

Marty was and still is a great guy he's just not here physically, I met him shortly after he lost his winston in Hagg lake about 3 or 4 yrs ago, seems it jumped off his pontoon. He will be missed by all.

My condolences to his family and to Don and the staff at River City.

Marty’s untimely departure is a warning to all of us to enjoy every day to the fullest.

As a newcomer to the sport, Marty was always very helpful and was quick to share information.

He will be missed.

My thoughts go out to his family.

A very sad day, indeed...

While I only met Marty a couple of times he was one of the most enjoyable personalities I have ever met. My condolances to his family and friends.

I missed the last meeting and didn't hear he was killed.
He was a nice guy, he'll be missed.

I always notice that fly fishers are usually nice people and wonder if nice people are drawn to fly fishing or if fly fishing creates nice people. I always notice how calm I feel after a day of fishing a pretty trout stream.
