hello all, cleaning up from yestedays trip to the coast 3 things came up... my buddy says the first question isnt necessary... I dissagree
1) how critical is it to wash the exterior of a boat after its been in salt water( i did flush the motor already) ???
2) should the bottom of the ( i have a floor atop the bottom of the hull) boat be flushed if it too took in some salt water???
3) why might my new (less than 12hr on it) water pump be trashed already... no heavy weeds or sand got sucked in???
1. depends on if you like a clean boat.
2. sure doesn't hurt. Helps keep things from rusting away.
3. if flushed after each trip to the salty sea it should
last a long time.

i got tired of the aluminum pitting and corrosion problems so when it came time to buy a new boat went with glass...I was looking at a new aluminum boat when I say a thread on here about saltwater corrosion on North Rivers. The owner of NR replied that boats should be immediately washed for two hours after each use in saltwater, and if you waited until you got home it was too late....I didn't want that type of high maintenace

Hey jimsbuddy,
Check out the threads on this forum about the SHARKHIDE aluminum hull protectant. There are a lot of guys with a lot of hands on with the stuff.

OK Jim, what kinda motor ya got on that old dirty metal boat? Seems like there have been a rash of Suzuki problems here lately, is yours yet another?
