I have a Yamaha 90 4 strk 2003 OB on my boat an have a little paint chipping on the prop blades.Should I change out the prop and get this one repainted? Does it take a puller to get the prop off? I do have a tourque wrench and other tools. :help:
If it is not bent just leave it or if you feel bette with paint on it, touch it up yourself with a spray can.
As far as touque on the prop I have a Honda and use to have several merc motors and I usally just tighten the crown nut tight and back it off until I can put the keeper pin it it... tight is not good.

these are my opinions and they have worked for me and most of my buddies with props

Is it chipped or does it look like it was scraped off? You may have cavitation burns and they will just come back. Either way, I wouldn't bother painting it unless you have significant nicks that will affect performance or if you just can't stand the look of it.

It appears to be kinda flaking off.It is supposed to be a stainless prop and I have a spare one thats aluminum.I was just wondering if I should swap them out this winter.

You mentioned that the prop is suppose to be stainless. Usually, stainless isn't painted unless someone did a home job and that might explain the flaking. Is the prop heavier than your aluminum one? It would also help if you can post a picture. However, from what you have described, I would just leave it alone.

It slides right off with a crescent wrench. Touch it up your self if you don't like the looks. Stainless weighs 2-3 times more than an aluminum. Some steel ones are polished, some painted. You should have a shop manual too.
