My 2 axle Tricker trailer which has drum brakes on both axles is still locking up after a stop, only on the left side.

What I have done.

Removed wheels and removed brakes checking for binding or rusted parts (no problem noted newer brake assembly) these are the newer zinc and stainless types.

bled the system ( entire flush)

replaced the brake actuator (replaced dico with dico)

loostened the left side 5 more clicks than the right side (just to see if it might help)

now I am sctarching my head?

Any ideas?

Weak/missing/mis-located return spring?

Also, the controllers for disc brakes and drum brakes are different. You would want to verify that you have the drum model.

Thanks orca

yes it a drum actuator, I will check the spring again...

Another weird note is i can back up and it will roll free and then pull forward many times and it will work loose and it will be fine for the day. Once i back it up in the driveway and hook up a week later it is locked up again... weird

Make sure the self adjuster on the left brake assemble isn't fliped 180 degees. If it is installed wrong, the adjuster will work tight when rolling and stoping in the forward direction. I hope this helps. These self adjusters normally ratchet outward when traveling in reverse and apply the breaks. However, with surge breaks, this does not happen and thus the adjusters must be adjusted manually.

Jet,

PM me your phone number. Had the same thing happen to my Tricker. Easier to explain on the phone.

I was having some problems with mine. Took it to the shop that originally installed them, they had the drums turned, and the problem went away...
