I/O Mercruiser Manifold Leak

I'm looking at a used boat with a 120 I/O Mercruiser. The owner says the intake/exhaust manifold leaks water into the crankcase. He suggests machining the manifold and a new gasket would correct the problem.

Will it work?

Would I have to pull the engine and surface the block too?

Thanks for your thoughts -- I don't want to buy a headache.

I'd suggest passing on this one. Lot's of boats for sale. Don't buy unknown headaches. Cost of repair may be more than boat is worth.

Sounds like a pass unless it is so cheap you can afford to replace everything which I doubt.
