My brother has a 200 hp on a 21 Seahawk and it is an awesome motor. He had a 75 hp on his last boat and he is terrible at maintenance. He really had over a 1000 hours on it and it never missed a beat except once where it cut out a bit. He changed the plugs and it ran like a top that is why he wanted the Suzuki for his new boat. I never thought much of the motors in the beggining but now I'm sold, they are a solid motor. They did have a 6 year warranty when he bought his. May of this year.

I bought a 225HP Suzuki 4-Stroke for the back of my new boat. I looked at the usual (Yami, Honda, Merc, Etec) before settling on Suzuki. Their price was the best & have never heard anything bad about their big 4’s. I absolutely love this motor. It is extremely quiet at idle - can't even tell it's running from the front of the boat (my T8 kicker makes more noise). At full throttle it is a quiet roar - can actually have a conversation when running at full throttle. It gets up and goes quick and fuel economy seems to be par with the rest - @ 30MPH getting under 8GPH, but then again the engine is not fully broken in yet. They also had a special where they doubled their warranty (out to 6yrs) – but not sure if still in effect (I think it is). I bought the "Commander" gauge package for the digital feedback on fuel, trip, hours, etc – highly recommend the additional $600 or so for the gauges. My only gripe is that on the 225/250 they only offer a 16" SS prop, so a spare runs $425+. Feel free to send a PM if you want some specifics.

I have the 140. You can hear the water coming out of the motor from the helm while at idle. Very quiet, and seems to get great mileage.

I just put a dealer over-stock 2004, 225hp Suzuki on my 21.5 Seaswirl Striper this fall. You know you did good when the better half tells you, "Well, I'm glad you bought that motor after all. It doesn't stink, and we can actually talk while the boat is running" Seriously, I've had to check the tach several times at idle to see if the engine was still running. Dealer told me he had to repair several water pumps from guys taking their boats out of the water while the engine was still idling. Fuel economy is great.Starts like a dream. I am hoping that, like Bluto, the price of an extra prop will drop soon. I am sure the other brands of 4 strokes are just as good, but I have always had good luck with a Suzuki on my boats. That's my $.02 worth.

What they said.

I have the 140 and it's a dream. I bought it partially because of the price and warranty, but also because it was almost 100lbs lighter than a comparable Honda. That was three years ago and if I had to do it over I would do exactly the same thing. That's the real bottom line.

I was going to repower a sled I had, going to the 140hp 4-stroke. I did lots of research and asked lots of questions on here too (thanks Crabbait). I was sold on the engine, but I decided to just sell the boat and get a different sled. I sold that sled and got a new Alumaweld Intruder this year, and I would of loved to of had the 140zuke, but the 150 yami was the same price and the dealership didn't carry zukes. I love my Yami, but IMO the zukes are just as awesome!!!
